I guess first start off with the P+L for the year for online

Poker: +£2196.25

Sports Betting: +£29.35.

The only reason sports betting is in profit is because of a free £100 sign up bonus thingy earlier in the year. If not i'd be stuck - small leak i guess!

Right, well, a year in review:

High points:

1. Without doubt, winning the UK Student Poker Championship. Was an awesome night, saw my Vegas flights paid for and is something i'll always be able to remember!

2. Vegas. Too much to list....see the vegas blog for details!

3. London with the gf - i highly reccomend going to the Jazz Cafe just before Christmas to see their concert if you want to be on a buzz for the next few days.

4. Sweden - beautiful country, was great to start seeing Europe and will go back again one day.

5. Madrid - basically turned into a weekend of poker with a tiny bit of shopping in between. Classic jeal getting shat on moment after he gets a pot taken away from him 3 hands after the pot had happened. Spain is rigged imo

6. Warwickshire (again with gf) - the view when you're having dinner from the saxon mill inbetween stratford and warwick made the holiday.

7. Running / saying goodbye to the poker society. Given it went from 10-12 people to two sell out tournaments, sponsorships, online tournaments etc in the 18 months Me and Joe ran it, i can safely say i'm pretty pleased.

8. In my 2nd Blog of January (my first big post on the UEA blog), I said this:

Only just read it back to see if I had set any goals or anything. Looks like I achieved them. In 2008 I made ~ £1.5k online, so have beaten that too. Woot!

9. Graduation - was pretty cool tbh.

10. Staking - I've run great this year with percentages. Just waiting for the $30k sunday million scoop...

Bad Points:

1. Never going to in and out burger in vegas - what were we thinking.

2. Losing to an old man (admittedly a reg) HU in the 2nd tournament we played in vegas, when hu is what im supposed to be good at.

3. Losing that flip when mid stacked with 38 left in the sunday million. The whole house were subdued for a good 15 mins.

4. Bubbling pretty much every sattellite to any $200+ comp i've played in has sucked.

5. Learning I can't swim (!)

6. Not been running properly since easter.

As for the past 3 months (you'll notice a lack of many posts) I've basically just been working really hard, pulling through the MSc. It's tough but I think I'm over the preverbial mountain for now.
Poker wise it's been few and far between as far as a decent session goes. However, once I'd finished for Christmas it turned out I had treated myself a bit too much over the semester and needed a few pounds, so deposited $300 onto an Ongame skin that were offering me effectively 70-80% RB and though i'd give the doubleornothing sngs a crack. I didnt play many at first, spent most of the time reading one MONSTER strategy thread on 2p2, and once I felt I had the basics then i'd give them a go.

Results so far:

Still a small sample size imo, but relatively steady. Don't think I've ran particularly good or bad really, had a few spots where I lost a few in a row thanks to losing 4-5 80:20s etc but thats to be expected. Definately sucked out a few times myself so all in all is fine!
I think unless you specialise in these you should just avoid them, especially on ongame where the rake is 10%. At $50+ on stars there's all sorts of metagame going on between the regs ffs! It's not really poker, to me I view it as a big game tree (lets get some 2nd year economics in whilst we're here) - given most spots are against unknowns, you treat every situation like you're in a vaccuum and play optimal strategy. Example: if folded to in the CO when blinds are 100-200, look at your stack, the button, sb, bb stacks, how many are left, your holding vs their calling range based on the fold equity you have against an unknown (sometimes you do get spew called, but often K-hi and Qxs are ahead of this range so is not a problem) and decide whether to shove or fold. Of course when you're playing 6-7 tables and have a 15 sec timebank this can be tricky which is why knowing the strategy pretty much inside out is essential, but all in all i think i have the hang of it. Raked nearly $800 too, take off my small losses at MTTs (note to self, just stake people in future) and I'm up about $700 or so in 3 weeks. Will be withdrawing this time next week as its back to studying, will leave me a nice little fund to pay for what I have planned over the coming semester.

3 Month Goals:

Clear the rest of this bonus and get back to studying- will buy %s in people if i think its profitable itlr, asides from that I don't have too much time to play.

Average 60% this semester. If I can do this I'll have a good shot at getting 65%+ at the end of the MSc (nb, 50% = pass, 70% = distinction). Going to be bloody hard given one Economic unit is apparently very tough, but we will see. Since I did OK last semester I don't see why I can't get back on the horse and see this one through well.

Go to the gym once a week and play badminton/tt/tennis/squash or w/e once a week. Will see if Owe/Jeal or whoever is up for this. Good physical wellbeing = good psychological wellbeing, the former being something i've let slip over the past 4-5 months.

12 Month Goals:

Well, this is much harder. I have two options- stay on and attempt the PhD, or look to put a foot on the career ladder. I have applied/am in the midst of applying for a couple of different places (I will update this with any progress as and when), and am really looking forward to a meeting I have with a friend's sister in a week or so. Her background is in Economics and she is now high up in a Fortune 1000 firm, I imagine it will be of great benefit to me to hear her story and get her advice.

So, goals...

Either have a job or be studying for my PhD - dependent on what I think I'll be happiest doing.

Obtain over 65% in the MSc (at least 60.)

Visit one new country

Be happy with my fitness/weight etc

Have a year half as good as the one just gone....!

All in all, its been the best year on record for me for a multitude of reasons, from academia to women to big sessions grinding at jeals listening to celine dion and meatloaf(!) - I count myself very lucky.

Wishing everyone all the best for the next decade, for all of those graduating this year gl and all those taking a shot at professional poker or looking for a career I hope you find whatever makes you happy- its more important than you think.

Update on Progress

Hello to All..

So far after 3 out of 4 weeks I have played 38 out of 150 SNGs.. My ROI is around 0, with variance sometimes peaking it above and sometimes below. The conclusions I have drawn from my game:

1. I am not kept interested in the game when I am playing like this, it takes out the excitement, and in the words of Matt Damon in Rounders "Your whole life becomes a f'ing grind". I have always preferred live play and this "challenge" has furthered this. After the past 10 days or so I have found it hard to find the motivation to play, which is obviously not helpful.

2. The lack of motivation has impacted on my ROI - my performance was much better when I was enthusiastic about the challenge, 4 tabling 1 game a couple of times a week is -EV and I believe is responsible for the ROI position.

3. I have room for improvement at this level, however am better than average at this level, and when playing enthusiastically would definately be in a profitable position.

4. I need to work on heads up play more and pay attention to the blind levels when I go heads up.

5. Defensive play was getting me a reasonable cash ratio, but the benefits of getting 2nd/ 1st over 3rd meant that the way I was playing was definately sub optimum, with alot of my 3rds involving being on <5BBs!

Going Forward....

I am going to have a dip in a wider variety of games over the next months and play some MTTs which up till now I have done very little of online.

I am going to be playing on 2 sites: Full Tilt Poker and PKR. PKR has always provided a useful distraction from the grind, and was good val. for me.

I will still continue with the challenge on FTP, but will be playing other games on there aswell. Using PokerOffice I can still track my stats and info for the $5 SNGs so will be able to report on them, obviously the target of 150 games has gone out of the window as I have completed less than a 3rd of them so faw, but n.mind..

Hey

Haven't posted in a long time, this is mainly due to the work from my MSc taking over my life! However I have decided I deserve 1/2 hour break today and so am going to spew some thoughts here.

Poker

Poker has been going suprisingly well given the little time I have. The b2b account where Owe staked me for a bit ended with around $900 prof from $20 hu sngs which was cool. However, since I have the scholarship and the profit doesn't matter so much, we decdied to switch it to stars and take some shots at $30-$50 tournaments, inc sats to the PCA, and see what happens.
Before this I deposited $100 on stars one saturday and two saturdays later cashed out $600 which was handy, although I did have one sick tournament hand when deep in a 1500 runner $10r:

That put me 12th for $360, i think first was around 7-8k. Top 7 paid $1k+.

Another deep run was the 10k gtd $30 freeze on saturday morning, gets around 700-800 runners and is a decent structure. Have gone deep in it a couple of times, this time made the final table but came in 9/9.

Had 75k at 3k/6k/600 and had J6o in the bb...utg and utg+1 (800k stack) limp, co limps and sb makes up, i check.
Flop Jc 8x 6c. Checked to co who leads for 20k, sb fold, i ship, utg fold, utg+1 CALL, co tank folds. Utg has 88 and hits quads on the river. 8th for $500, winner gets 4.1k. sigh.

Well, at least I keep going deep i guess, one day will hit a decent score.

As for my housemates, we played the $500 GSOP event on ongame on sunday. Jeal played, I think Owe had around 40% then 60% was split between 6-7 of us (I had 10%)

Got deep, i think 160 cashed, we were short with 60 left, blinds 1k 2k + 200a, mp makes it 5k, we have 22k and AQo in the cutoff. Villain has raised to 5k hand before and folded to a lp ship. We shipped, i still think its the right ship although in this case he had AA obv and we bust 55th for $2.2k. GG.

Owe has been playing 90% $100 hu sngs, with the occasional $50 and the occasional $200. Has been doing pretty good, playing solid. Recently have seen him take some sick beats tho, lots of 2 and 3 outers, but thats just the nature of the beast.

Jeal gets sucked out on for fun it seems, I swear his account is cursed! The amount of worstcardinthedeck rivers he got yesterday was insane!

As for random poker soc members, from memory:

Wakes goes semi deep in the stars 100k ($10 buyin) for $150. Over summer shipped a $5r on ipoker for $3k and 2 wks ago shipped a 2 DOLLAR FREEZE with 7,000 runners on stars for $3k!

As far as non-poker goes, my MSc is tough. I have a gruelling reading/working schedule, so in between that, lectures, sleeping and seeing hannah i have little free time. However i do take saturday afternoons off. :)

Finally did something I like today in economic theory (game theory) and it made me realise how much of it could be used by people who don't know it in poker. In my next post i might focus on an introduction to game theory and its relation to heads up nl instead of posting about myself! The correlation between some experimental economic evidence i was reading in a paper yesterday and cognitive thought/ timing tells online was pretty sick too. But thats for another time.

This week i have stuff all day today, wednesday, thursday and friday so probably won't be playing until poker soc on friday night. Maybe friday afternoon if I'm on top of all my work...

Didnt play at all yesterday (saturday) and have only had a chance to get a couple in today. I am now 8.88 up, which isnt much, but does equal ~7% ROI, and if you include the $2 SNG cash which actually got this thing started I am up 13.89 = 10.43% ROI...

First game I bubbled, I am down to approx 8BB, and ship UTG with 3.3 Get called by KQo (UTG+1) and by SB (who folds on flop) Board= Q 7 2 2 10

Second game i actually end up chopping with chip lead again, for another win, taking about $19.. Sadly I wasnt making a copy of HHs at the time, so I dont have any interesting hands to post, will just copy some in from Poker Office..

BIG WIN (not a skillful hand, but was the biggest monetary win for the game, and got it down to 3 players, I would like comments on the call, I am thinking it is probably -EV in that spot, particularly being a bubble, but I made it in this spot as he had very aggressive preflop, and I think with the most premium hands you dont shove for ~25BB and 10*Raise)

OK, played a couple of games today so far, and think I am starting to see my way out of the flu.. ftw..

(I have gone against my first decision, and am now registering 2 SNGs at a time as the multitabling is working well)

First game came 3rd, pretty standard, nothing of particular note, final hand for me, I was short stack with around 8BB, got it in PF with A8s, vs. 10-10, flop brings 8, but nothing else..

Second game, was a first for me, in that I made a deal to chop up 1st-2nd (i had around a 2K chip lead so it was a win :D ) for $18.54.. I reckon we were fairly equal, and with my chip lead the chop was +EV for me I think.

Day 3 - Had a bad run today, in 9 games, ended up -$18 (1x2nd, 2x 3rd) not too concerned though, always going to get variance, its the long game that matters!

Day 4 (today) - Right.. so actually have swine flu apparently.. lovely :D

Got up about 6, played 2 games (at same time) came 3rd in one, 4th in the other, and all though I therefore ended up -$2, I was much happier with the way I played, I think yesterday I had got a bit over cautious in my game, and a bit too tight.. After those two games I basically slept all day, and woke up about 5! Not playing any more today, as dont feel to great..

Was up at about 5 this morning as couldnt sleep with this flu. Played my second sng and cashed in 3rd, I was short stacked for most of the game, and was down in last place when there were 7/9 remaining, hung on in, no big hands (was getting no playable starting hands) so just exploiting opportunities. 3 handed I have ~1.5K vs. 7K vs. 5K.. would have been nice to make a better position, but its a cash.. at the moment BR is +$11.50 in 2 games... will play some more today (am hoping to get in 5 today) but now its time to watch some TV.

Bonfire Night Challenge..

I haven't been playing much poker recently with work and music, but decided yesterday to get back in the online world.. I have deposited in a few accounts, but have decided my main account will be Full Tilt Poker.. I love their software, and it works great with Poker Office.. For those who have read this blog, you will know I have had little success on FTP in the past, so this is even more of a challenge for me... Here is how it will go..

I have deposited $200 into my FTP account, and over the next month (ending on 5th November, bonfire Night) I will play $5 SNGs exclusively and will keep track of my BR over the month. I will provide some updates on a reg. basis and will post graphs and some PokerOffice stats at the end of the month.. Also will chuck some HandHistories up.. If you are online I am playing under the name "UEA PokerStar" check it out, and shout at me if I am playing anything other than $5 SNGs.. :D

In other news... UEA Poker's first tournament of the year was a huge success with over 80 people, Tidey, John and Stephen chopping it up 75-80-80 at the end.. Next week is going to be in Constable terrace, so that should be interesting.. We have around 150 fully paid up members now which is sick, and should make for a great year of tournaments!

Hello everyone.. Blog has gone a bit quiet recently, so thought I would chuck in a little post.

Online Poker: haven't played much recently as had been working long hours but just started up again, hopefully will post some interesting hands soon..

Live Poker: played a couple of times at the new poker club in my home town, really nice setup they have. low point: donked off £25 on a hopeless bluff, high point: read my way to a £50 win on pair of 10s on a board with A and K..

Have a nice little chip set all ready for a Premier league style tournament, which will hopefully happen soon..

Home games have not really happened for a while for similar reasons to why I haven't been playing online......

Poker Soc: Completed the new website ( www.ueapoker.co.uk ) and set up the new facebook page ( http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=74766802002 ). Have set up affiliate schemes with Best Poker ( https://www.bestpoker.com/signup?bonuscode=ueapoker100 ) which will be the home of the Poker Soc's online tourneys for the year; and also with Poker Office ( http://www.pokeroffice.com/?AffID=11673 ) which will earn the soc. some munns to go towards some great prizes etc....

Soc mart was a huge sucess with approx 190 sign-ups and more are expected.

Non Poker: Spent the first part of the summer working, and in the past few weeks have been volunteering with Norfolk Music Works in their summer projects.. Met some awesome musicians, and it has reignited my interest in music feels great to go and make some music :D :D Have sorted out my home studio completely so have real nice recording set-up... :D

Now going into final year of Law degree, have chosen: employment law, company law, medical law and Human Rights in the UK as my four subjects, so looking forward to that.. Not sure what the plan is for this time next year yet though would like to take some time to travel a bit, but who knows, Vegas is definately on the cards for next year though!

Hey

Am coming to the end of the busiest week ever i think!

Tuesday was my sisters graduation which was pretty cool. Both her and her bf are doctors now, scary! the family came up tho and we had a party in our garden afterwards that was pretty cool. in the evening went to jeals 21st thing in his garden with hannah for a bit which was nice, his mum did a sick hog roast and there was a crazy 10p 20p cash game that saw wins of £200 and losses of £300 for some, loool!

Wednesday we got the new house keys (!) where me owe and jeal are living next year,which obviously meant a busy day. am really pleased with it, its gradually getting how i want it to be too.

Thursday was my graduation! Will post pics on fbook soon, was a really good day. didnt fall over on the stage which was handy, and was nice to see some friends again. again the family came up and we had a chinese in the evening which was good, then i was in bed at 10pm as i was ridic tired.

Today has been manic, got to the bank about 10, they wouldnt help me with my isa (wtf) so im taking all my money out of halifax and putting it in lloyds tsb, who actually are nice to me. then bought a new tv for the house (42" plasma, ship) and had to get back for lunch as the sky man was coming to fit the full works package. got the 360 up and running too which is handy. then spent 2 hours on the phone with sky and bt trying to sort out broadband, has gone from 3-4 days, to 1 week, to 2 weeks, to 21-24 days ffs. writing a big letter to sky as theyve really done us over, i am a bit anal and have a call log of who i spoke to, what they said and when so will hopefully get some compensation for it.

This evening i sat down to play as hadn't played for a couple of days. won about 100 euros in sweden and felt i was playing really good. decided i would play 20 games of 20 euro headsup non turbo, and got off to a flyer winning 9 and losing 1. However, in the next 10 games i lost 7! Was pretty standard, had a few sick coolers and then some hands like me 3 betting QQ pre then letting them stack off with middle pair on flop, followed by them 5 outering me on turn/river. I guess you cant win all your 80:20s! Also ran QQ into KK at 50 100 which sucked.

So after rake finished 40 euros up (but played a 10e comp) so balance on 750euros. Will hopefully rake 400-500-600 euros this month too, the plan is to have the balance at a minimum of 1k at the start of august when rb comes in. 1.1k is better, and 1.2k good, with anything above being awesome.

Played a really decent reg called S@mS@m too who i beat, had to play a different style ofc, but was doing things like CRAI on the turn of a AQ56 board after he limp called a raise pre knowing he was floating the flop with such a wise range and would find it had to call without 2 pair +, somehting im obv not doing vs fishy players!

Anyhoo, i think thats everything....not playing as many mtts as im focussing so much on hu, but really feel my game is improving.

Off to lounge in front of big new telly with beer and pretzels...ahh.

Holaaaa, been very bad and lazy with updates, been "busy" and basically lazy tbh(great combo i know). Been playing a fair bit online, last month won 4.4k and am happy with that result, have came up with the conclusiont hat i dont play enough AND not enough comps either, probs won about 2k this month , althou 1200 was basically a gift since there was a sick comp with 24 runners, came third for 1.2k SHIP!

Adams been running pretty good, bubbled today in comp, wasa lot of discussion about the play but meh, it is what it is, even thou too of my buddies apparantly railed me and got told of for playing it badly in the comp when i went out etc (sorry Adam) lol, but expalined it wasnt me playing and LOL AT NEITHER OF THEM BELIEVING ME! Its all good thou :)

The heads up has been going so so, up 300ish today, but had few important games that i lost in semi harsh ways.

Saw an interesting prog on tv just now about the absolute/ultimate bet poker scandal, was very interesting and sick sick, basically the guy never got into any serious trouble even thou they knew who it was. Val in shipping millions from pros without getting into trouble haha... Amazes me that ppl still play there....

Goal of this month is 5k shoudl be doable :)

Will be going back to Norwich for Adams Bar Mitzva so will be in Norwich on the 29th fun fun, moving into new house which shud be great fun and setting up my room and grind pad, and make it nice for the ladies haha!

1) Scholarship got confirmed today. absolutely over the moon, means no finance problems (well, still on student budget but no debt!) for next 4 years if i want it, insane. Looking forward to giving the phd a good crack, we'll see.

2) In prof this month on b2b, was always in prof from sngs but donked off on cash at start of account so had to start stuck. up 120e now, if i hadn't have donked cash or mtts etc would be 500e. So, that means this month no mtts on b2b! lol.

3) talked to my old sixth forms current yr12 economics class today. went through how i did at alevels and what i had to do to get where i am today etc. they really seemed interested which was nice, in general it was fun and we even talked about how game theory affects heads up play, tangents ftw!

Now watching a couple of films with jeal before we leave for stansted.

Hola!

Just a lil update on the gaming and life :)

Sweden is incredibly hot, +25 without a cloud on the sky at the moment been like this for 5 days and gonna stay for another week ! Im currently pretty sunburnt hehe, no val in playing Tennis without a t shirt 2 days ina row! however we shall ship the tan soon :)

Poker is going much better :) The comp the other day was rigged in my favour however only made 4th :( had a spot with 5 left when i have 180k, 2 stacks ship all in (65k and 55k) and i look at AA in BB obv it doesnt hold vs JJ and KK guess what hand one? of course it was the worst one!

Won about 450 yesterday at ongame playing 50$ HU and was very pleased with my game and all good hand (almost) held up, still not playing enough games thou, being "lazy" keep watching TV or doing other shizzle.

Today is looking very good, started an hour ago play 2-3 HU at the time and won 8 in a row, and now taking break, gonna treat myself to some excersice.

CONGRATS TO ADAM FOR GETTING A FIRST!!! THAT BEATS ANY POKERSKILL IMO; :)))

Lots of stuff to get through, it's been a while.

Firstly, props to fenix35 who is on a sicko run atm, both live and online. It must be nice!

Poker

Tbh haven't played as much as i really should have. Have done a couple of meh day jobs (got another on monday) that bring in a few pounds but generally have no motivation atm. If im not seeing friends, gf, family or generally out then im asleep, so havent had much time for poker. I've won about $160 playing 10 hu sngs, 5% roi, meh, rb is another 60-80 tho so its not too bad. However I am stuck like 200 on tournaments, 100 on cash. I don't think ive cashed in 10-15 tournaments or so. Most have been sattellites where top 2-3 go through, i keep going really deep but losing crucial flips or some shortstack on bubble gets it in 3 times behind, wins all 3, then i lose a 60:40 to go out without a cash. meh.
Played a couple of tourneys on ipoker too, $15 4k gtd last night, get 1500 up to 4k, blinds get to 50 100, bb has just lost a big pot and is down to 4k, folded to be in sb with KK, i make it 275 he ships with 33....loyal 3's obviously flop a set and i lose an 8k pot. murrr. Then this morning played a $10 freeze, 120 runners, 80 or so left and ive got 3k, blinds 30 60, utg limps, i limp mp with 88, button makes it 3x, sb calls utg calls so i call. board K 10 8, sb ships 900 into 500 or w/e, utg min raises to 1800, i ship for 1k more, button with 2.5k behind thinks and calls, and utg calls. Pot is like 11k when avg is 2.4, sb has 44 (wtf) utg has k5o (wtf) and button has JJ (WTF.) Q turn, J river, see you later.

So, to conclude, im a bit fed up with poker atm!

Non-poker

Off to Sweden next saturday to visit StigOwe with jeal, there for a week. Only costing £20 return with ryanair (ship) so is keeping the vegas fund safe. Hopefully we can have some good sessions together and i'll refind some run good and actually make some more spending money!

As mentioned in the title, I got my results this week...and got a First! I genuinely had ruled it out, thinking a 2.1 was my destiny. On Thursday I got a call from my mate luke saying results were on the internet, was driving with my gf so when we got back in my family and her nearby as I squeezed out my results on the laptop. Last year when I was .6% short I went a bit pissed off so had warned hannah that I might swear a bit if I bubble one again! It reads attained: I Class I...I had to recheck a few times before I could believe it. My family + gfs family were all really pleased etc so that was nice, all of my friends have been really congratulatory too, it's been an awesome few days. Unfortunately two of my close friends were less than 1% away, which has taken a bit away as it would have been nice for us all, but there you go.
I should hear for definite about the scholarship on Tuesday, it is essentially mine but until its in writing i'm still not going to properly celebrate. Will be pretty sick opening up an email potentially worth 90-100k though. :/

Oh, and I got stung by a wasp yesterday. It hurt like hell, and I can still feel it this morning! beware.

Yo, long time no update, havent played for ten days, missed out on a lot of rakeback there which kinda sucks but still doing ok on the front...

today i won around 320ish on ongame, which has changed their software and it is sooo bad now! :) so slow, and lags a lot! boooooo!

Today went to some bars with friends, and established that swedish girls are truly the best, pretty F***ing insane if u ask me :) Everyone probably knew this thou, not are they just very pretty they are also really nice girls too, great combo hehe.

After a shipment of a phone number to a lovely blonde, we went back to mine(me and my buddies Tanner and Tim) not the blonde lol i made some spaghetti and meatballs and we treated ourselves whilst watching friday the 13th part 38 or something i played a few games, and ended up again :)

So dont know how to put this, but.... im kind of a big deal :) Been running well now for good few days, still not winning the coinflips, today 1-6 but been really really avoiding them, only taken them when ive kinda had to, like playing a big fish and he repops (4bet) i have to push vs them well atleast i think its plus EV...and everytime ive been "right" so far, so lost QQ to AK and AK to 77 and JJ and 1010...however still happy, maybe shud wait the fish out but i know they come to me again then :) hehe....
I am sooo sooo pleased with my game at the moment and if i can just avoid running really bad ill be winning a lot!! very very sick :)
Nothing that interesting really to tell, will go out clubbing 2mo, shud be great val, last week lost girls number no val in writing down numbers on beer coasters:((( She was beautiful, plenty more FISH in the sea thou, still sucks to be me, FML!!

StigOweeeeeeee yet another day with small success i guess :) have played about 16-18 games today only 4 losses :D

Played a few 5 max games aswell with 2 places only giving me 25 dollar profit each one, but also had one which was the sickest one ive ver played, it was over in 10-15 min, i kept getting sick hits the hands i played and bascially took everyone out super quick! 66 set vs top par, then 96 in BB getting run run quads vs top boat, he checked flop.... then another set and finished off with 4x more than the other dude HU by outdrawing his 88 with my 44 :)))

Then won most HU, didnt play extremely well or anything, i just played standard and played loads of FISH yumm yumm :) funny result in my HU matches is that todays session i ended up 0-9 in coinflips :) still winning is a great result then :)

Yooo, so todays session started real good, but then a bad finnish... had some coolers amongst them was AK vs AQ preflop ai, KK vs QJ ai pf, and QQ on Q74 board vs 85 all in was filthy and had to throw up when 6 came... he made a move and got paid off...laaaaakkky old cow!

so not bad, probs played 30 games, so shud hace raked about 140 ish or so... going up atleast. looking to win atleast 1k more this month then im "happy" with the start off, really looking to win 2-3k more but we will see, havent been running good, so any prof will do :)

Hey all, finally my summer holiday has begun, and life is truly great! :)

Firstly id like to congratulate Rich Jones for his shipment in 50k guar, i believe they chopped it 3 way and he did well the young lad :p Railed him for a good 3-4 hours and he even had a cooler wiv about 30 left his AK vs AQ for a 130kish pot that wud have put him on 200k which was FT material. and there was some AQ vs A8 rich holding AQ on like raggy board the other dude pushed and rich called with 2 blanks leaving him as the winner :)

My game has been so so, started off losing like 8 days ina row, had some horrific beats and been running real real bad, 2 days ago was the turning point where i started winning 15oish then last night i eneded up 600ish and today already up 150$. there is a rake race and im currently 5th and shud be shipping the top 5 i thin and hope, giving my roll a nice lil extra booost :) aiming to get around 2-3k in rakeback this month which is more than possible, and am now finally up in my game as well :)

will update this blog as daily as i can, will have a weeks break soon but that shudnt affect my rb cause i will still squeeze in 10 games minimum thos days :)

Adam update - Summer

Right then. It's Friday evening. Tomorrow I have an exam at 1.30, then another on Monday at 3.15. After that, I will have completed a degree (wtf) and have 3 months to kill. The first week is - Monday night meal with poker lads, tuesday going on a boat with some mates, cash game on the water! then pub crawl + lcr, wednesday is gf's friends bbq then night out, thursday is optic party, friday prob bbq at my house with family, saturday is summer bash lcr. Ship!

Anyhow, here are my plans for the rest of the summer:

1) Poker. This month i've luckboxed my way to $450 prof, not playing that much at all cos of exams. I have Vegas paid for inc some money for food/petrol etc, so whatever I get now is paying for my Poker. I really want to have about $2k-$3k for the trip, enough for a few buyins at NL200 and some of the $100 tournaments too.

Plan:
$11 hu sngs until $800, then move up to the $20s.
$4/$7/$12 180 mans for fun/ I know im +EV in them too lol.
Once I feel ready, start to commit more time to NL50 hu. About $150 of this months prof comes from there atm, I ran prob a tad over EV (will put them into PT and look at my bb/100 later) as a couple of big hands held, but in general I feel bumhunting table selection would see me a consistent winner on there. One buyin a day = enough for vegas with not much pressure.I've seen people have 20 bi days etc on weekends so I really think thats my best opportunity. If I get to $750 or so and think I can do well, I may sell a % of myself so I'm properly rolled + can have a proper grind at it. We shall see, I really want 1.5k ish but with good game selection I think 1k would be ok. Some of the play is so amazing I think I have to play!

2) Life

-Graduation in July
-Week in Sweden with Jeal, visiting Owe
-A few days away with the Mrs in a country hotel
-3 weeks in Vegas
-My 21st party, jeals 21st party, about 4-5 other close friends bdays
-Moving into new house, with full size poker table!
-Renewing rod licence and improving my Carp PB
-A couple of trips to DTD to play the 1/2 games
-Basically playing online to subsidise my life
-Making sure I read up on whatever industrial econ stuff happens over the summer.

All in all, life is good and I can't wait til Monday 5.15pm.

Morning,

I feel like i have been bent over and received anal penetration by a black man for the last 10 Hours. Ouch! This session was definitely not one to remember! I felt and believe i played very good poker throughout the night but i just couldn't win a flip or a 60/40 all night. I was losing a lot of 70/30’s when we were three handed which doesn't help and even when i managed to get heads up, top set was never any good. Standard runner runner flush coming straight in. I saved one hand which pretty much summed up my session. It want allow me to upload it.

I had7c8c 3 handed, i made up from the SB, BB checked.

Flop came 6c 5c 2s

I bet 300 into 400 and he went all in for 1200. I obviously call 900 more with a straight flush draw. This leave me 110 chips behind and the other guy in the sitngo is pissing it. Turns out a 7 or an 8 is good too. The other guy and put me all in with 3h2h. Just bottom pair and a gut, when i have lead the flop for 1/4 of my stack in a un raised pot.

Hola !

So had a dip today and ended up just over 100 dollars, had few sick coolers today, so very happy to be up, won all the cruisal all ins and was very surprised my 65% favs were to hold up FAB!

Other than that, may month has been horrible, started off being down like 600ish, which considering i play sick good (jokes) is incredible, no seriously thou, lost soooo many hands i shudnt have and some absolute coolers, its more the way i lose, ppl calling all in on turn with no odds, and like gutshots and other crazy stuff...

Plans for the week are looking very nice,
2nite hitting gym, went the other day and ran 5.5km in 32 min, after the sweatyness that was that i hit the weights. Vallllll
2nite running for 30 min then some weights, also valllll :)

2mo hitting a place called cien montaditos, and they have a grea deal on wednesday where everything costs 1 euro, a pint is 1 euro, glass of wine, and this min baguette things that taste like heaven, going there with about 10 beautiful ladies and 2 of my buddies! gotta love my life :))

Thursday having ppl over at my piso (apartment) and it will most likely be sick as hell, then hitting a club...

friday hitting the gym again, last day then gym membershiop runs out, so not as much vallll...then will probably work on the tan that is non existant!

Morning,

After crashing out of the FTOP's heads up shootout, i decided to play some MTT's. I played some the night before and only earnt $110 but i felt my play in both tournamets was really good.
Last night tourney's;

1) $20 + $2 heads up shootout. $2k gtd (64 paid)
There were 307 runners so 51 players got a walk (including myself) in the first round. That meant i only had to win 2 matchs to be in the money. I won 3 matches and ended up finshing 26th for $49. +$27

2)$25 + $2.5 NL holdem freezeout. $40k gtd (270 paid)
There were 1782 runners in this tourament and i just happened to have the only pro in the tourament directly to my left. VAL!
I was playing all four tourneys at one time so i was generally playing tight. In this tourament i got a few hands early doors.
Starting stack was 3k. Blinds were 15/30
utg limped, utf +2 makes it 150. Im in the cutoff with aces. I make an abnormal raise to 700 trying to rep AK and the original raiser goes all in, which was handy. Turn out he had kings. Kings are no good mate.
Ended up finshing 182nd for $46 = +$18.5

3)$10 + $1 Nl holdem freezeout. $10k gtd. (216 paid)
There were 1458 runners. I played this tourney last night and came 26th for $46. i was hoping for a double cash but a final table this time.
Ended up cashing but only in 50th place for $24. This tourament is a good tourament but there is only value in the final table. Winning getting $2.5k
= +$13

4)$10 Rebuy $70k gtd. (270 paid)
There wee 1791 runners in this touramnet last night. I cashed in this one last night. Came 56th i think for $110. I started double stacked and at the break i had 15k and was sitting around 30th. I had my add on so i was in for $31. My table was very loose and ppl were definately enjoying themselves. I didnt end up cashing this time. Finshed 655th.

Never seen such a rack in one MTT in my life!!!

Im playing a player called Mooknam, he seems to be a very aggressive poor player. We both have 3k at this time

Im in the BB with QQ and he makes it 90, i reraise pot to 270 and he flat calls.

I check because if i bet and he ships i couldnt call, plus if i check he might try and get trick with a number of random hands. He insta bets pot 540 i flast call leaving myself 2135 behind.

Which changes nothing....i check and he insta bets pot again. 1620. I go into the tank....i think if he has a king he wouldnt bet pot but he was quite the fruity player. I decided that i was good so i went all in for 2135. Leaving him 515 to call. He calls.

Im on the button with Deuces...i make it 150 he calls. Flop comes 8 10 10, he checks, i bet 150 and he raises me to 400. So far in this heads up i have been very aggressive on the button and firing alot of continuation bets. So i think his range of raising me is wider. Hands like 9J, JQ, 9Q 97 etc come into the equation. I flat call and the Turn is a 3. He bets 520 into me and i flat call. The river was a 5 and he checks to me. I check behind because i dont think i am getting called by a worse hand. I think he has most probably got QJ but he isnt going to call me with that so i check behind. He shows 9Q.

Im now on 4k and he has 2k. I continue being aggressive and grind myself up to 4.8k. I then get AKos on the button and make it 150....he ships for 1.2k so i insta call and he has A10 and i held.

He was all in on an 8 high board with jacks, the other guy had aces. He hit a Jack the on river.....Then he got it all in for a huge pot with Kings on a 7 high board and the other guy tanked and called with jacks. He hit a jack on the turn and then he called an all in with pocket 7's (STEAMING!!!) for third of his stack. Other guy had Queens. Flop was K66 turn 7 River 7! see ya!

Yesterday was such a SICK day. So much Valllll! Yesterday i was running good in all aspects of life!

Firstly, April had asked me to the theatre royal to go watch some hip-hop dance group from Barcelona...I got rich to get the tickets for me because he lives next door. The show was on at 5 so i went round his at 4 to go collect the tickets. The lazy B*****d was still sleeping. I was outside ringing his flat bell for half an hour, to realise i was ringing his next door neighbours bell. ooops! Theatre was awesome....then we went for dinner at la tasca! That went down a treat, got the works in, got it down our beaks and then we spoofed for the bill. So much val in bant with females.

After i lost spoof we went for a few drinks...that then led to meeting up with Tidey, Wakes and Chaz. To put brief: Tidey = Steaming(out of his brains) Wakes = Scars for life and Chaz = Sensible one. I got around 20 texts after April had dropped me home. Tidey txt me a number of times saying biology biology, economics economics, April April tremendous Val and one of his text just said plants!!!!! Then Tidey text me saying kisses from russia, Wakes said kisses from poland and chaz said kisses from latvia. Messy Household!

Later on after April had dropped me off, i decided to have a session online. I entered a few mtt's, $22 heads up shootout $2k gtd, $10 rebuy $70k gtd and $10 $10k gtd freezeout. I went out in the first round on the heads up after coming 7th the night before for $170. The $10 rebuy i started double stacked and didnt dip but i added on at the break so i was in for $30. I finshed 57th for $112 in that, out of around 1900 runners. Blinds were 4k/8k and i had 89k. I get pocket 9's in the cutoff so i obviously ship. BB insta calls with queens, no val. Winner in that tourney got $11k. $10 freezeout i finshed 26th out of 1500 runners. Blinds were 4k/8k and i had 99k. Its folded to me and i have AQos so i shipped and the button insta reshipped with AKos. We dont get lucky for 230k pots. Cashed for $47 in the end. Winner for $2.5k.

Ended up getting to bed at 10am and i got up at 1pm because man city were playing man united! No value in that. We played bad. We played with no heart and played as if Hughes wanted united to win!

The 9th of May is here! I am free to drink alcohol again and laze about as much as I like.
I must thank Joe for the rather crispy £20 note I am yet to collect, thats a $30 freeroll on 0 in Vegas! ha! straight in you knoww.
Not only that, but I haven't missed drinking at all, and I genuinely think the exercise has done me good, am pretty lively all the time, and feel a bit more toned. Will try and keep it up for the next two months so I can grind at the pool and not be tilted from my steamy tummy!

Then two week gap until Coroporate finance -30th May- then Topics of Economic Analysis (eurghhh) on 1st June. Then i'm done!

After the break i was on 12.5k then i won a few pots and got up to 16k. Then i lost a few pots and went down to 12k. I then lost a 16k pot when someone had raised on the button to 2.2k and i was in the BB for 400 and there were muitiple limpers. I dont want to explain it. He ended up flopinh 2nd set on the flop but it was bad play by me. I should of reraised pre....or folded. No val in playing big pots out of position...which i explained earlier and then got laggy out of position for the first time and got my Charlies fixed! No Val in treating yourself to laggy plays.

Back to the grind for me. My graph will have looked abit strange over the last 50/100 games because i have been trying a few things out. For example, pokerstars have a promotion called battle of the planets. If you play sitngo's, then you should look on there website. Its sick.

Once i have played 1000 games in 30 days i will be playing 4 at one time $25 buyin and grinding that way. Rather than experimenting with 6-12 tables at once and seeing down swings in my graph lol. I have currently played 742 after after 16 days :-) Ship me the $$$$$$$$$$$ Mr Owesph and Joesph

Second Break!

Boyle has gone. Went one hand before the break. He called i bet on the turn with a pair on Kings and the 2nd nut flush draw, on a 7 high board. The river gave him the second nut flush without pairing the board. He called when the guy put him allin and the guy had bet the turn with just a bare flush draw. He was short and up for a gamble. Unlucky Joe.

After the break i got down to 3.8k and the blinds are 40/80. Hijack makes it 200, i call in the cutoff with Ah5h4d3c and the button calls. Flop comes 2d2c5d. So here i have two pair which i know isnt infront but i have A 3 4 for a wrap. Anyway the hijack checks, i check and the button bets 400 and the hijack flat calls. Im pretty sure the button is very weak. He is just betting in position hoping the bet gets through but has bet small enough so he doesnt lose too many chips. It was a standard bad bet from a poor play. This spot is quite interesting because the hijack had flat called and not made a continuation bet with an over pair. But i decided to squeeze to try and take the pot plus if i do get a caller i know my wrap is live. My raise was to 2.2k leaving me 800 behind so they knew i wasnt folding. The button folds and the hijack puts me all in. So i obviously call and he has JxJx10x2x. So i need an Ace 3 4 5 6. Turn 6 River 7 is that my 8k. Won a few pots since and got up to 12.5k :-)

Now the blinds are 120/240, im going to pounce on any weakness and play my hands in position strongly. Lets hope i read souls :-)

If Rich was here he would be currently making the tea's on 1.8k at the first break. Me and Boyle are both on 4.7k. Neither of us havent been in much action. Just been playing standard. Making sure i play big pots in position and small pots out of position. Managed to make a few bluffs by playing like this....Hoping to be a rack in the next level. I am having a serious issue with my connection!!!! Its soooo ANNOYING!!!! missed around 15mins of the first 55 because of it.

Anywayz lets hope the connection runs better so we can own souls and run like Boyle. Pbear is arriving in a minute for a steamy session no doubt.

Revision, breaking even and the infamous gatsby award

Well, writing this is much more interesting than the mandarin characters I have to learn upstairs so figured I'd have a ramble. Ni meiguanxi! (near enough you cant worry about it in mandarin)

Poker wise I haven't played too much, since I have no time when I do its usually 4 tabling $6 sngs. As Joe and Jeal have seen, i run bad (standard) and so am breaking even. Fingers crossed it will turn in time for finishing exams...grind!

Secondly, UEA Poker won live poker performance of the month in the Gatsby awards! UKGatsby is a prolific member of the UK Poker community so is pretty cool to get some recog.

Of course, am still keeping up my no alcohol / lots of exercise prop bet. I prob should have weighed myself before we started, would have been more interesting for you. All I can say is that the gf has noticed a flatter tummy (a good thing) so cheers to joe for both your money and a few more brownie points. Holla.

I still run incredibly life good, what with the gf/academic/friend combination I have going...so breaking even doesn't really matter :)

Yesterday i spent the day revising with dave. He got a bit stuck on EU trade stuff (tariffs etc) so i explained it all to him in poker. Voluntary Export Restraints = folding the SB in a tournament early in order to get respect later on. ha!

Im a gonna! Blinds are 120/240...i decided to get fruity with 3dkd utg and make it 550. utg+1 who has called me all night, calls. BB also calls. Flop comes 9d8d4s. I lead for 1389, utg+1 min raises me. Against most ppl i fold but this guy loves a min raise and had min raised me with one pair on a J 10 9 6 K board three hearts earlier and also min raised a guy with QsJs on a Jc8c7s. Other guy had 9c10c and he hit running spades to win. Any i reshipped for 5.5k more and this time he had a set of 4's. It came BRICK BRICK. stand!

Boyle made it to the 3rd break but only had 6k with blinds at 200/400. He lost a sick hand....He had AKos in the small blind at 200/400. It was folded to him sooo he raises to 1500, BB makes it 3.6k and boyle ships for 19k. The BB has 8.6k behind and calls with 4's!!!!!!!! SICKO!!!! Flop 7710 turn 3 river Q! No Val!

Very good tourney but unfortunately there was no running good for any of us. Im playing the $24 + $2 omaha knockout tourney 2moz which starts at 7pm. I shall let you know how that goes.

Rich is a gonna!!!! Vallll in free tea's every hour. Rich is having a serious dip in the PG Tipsssss!!!!

I am currently on 10.5 k, Joe is on 6.1k and wakes was down to 3.3k but has just doubled to 6.6k. Kings's against A10.

I havent had many hands this hour....made a couple of bluffs to get me on to 14k then lost 3k bluffing.

The way rich went out was soooo gross...Rich was utg+1 with AJos...Blinds are 80/160. Rich makes it 440, cutoff flat calls and everyone else passes. Flop comes 2x7x9x....Rich bets 640, he calls. Turn 8.....rich checks and he bets 840....so rich pushes for 5k more and he insta calls with pocket 3's!!!!!!!! HOW SICK IS THAT?!?!?!

We are all still in....Im on 10.7k, Rich is on 8.5k, Joe is making the tea's on 5.4k and wakes is on 5.3k.

I had won a few small pots and then i get 64os on the BB and everyone limps for 50 5 handed so i check. Flop comes 5d 7d 8c i check, cut off makes it 250......folded to me and i flat call. Turn came 10s, i check and he insta bets 750 leaving himself 1000 behind so i put him all in. He calls with 10dKd river Brick!

That put me on 8k then got 4d5d utg....blinds 30/60....i make it 150. cut off calls Sb call BB calls. Flop comes Kd8d7c, checked to me so i check, the guy behind me checks too. Turn comes Jd so i am obviosuly winning. I bet 540 into 600 and the cut off calls, river 3h. I check hoping he has Ad and has missed and can only win the pot by buying it. He bets 1200 into 1740 and i flat call because i dont think he is calling with a worst hand. He had 9s10s for a straight.

Joe has been a rack......Aces twice and queens twice, still makes the tea's. VALLLLLLLL

Rich was making the tea's before the last hand. Blinds 25/50....Button makes it 180. Rich makes it 430 from the small blind with Q5os and the button calls. Flop 10 J 2 rainbow.....Rich bets 220 hoping for a raise to reraise. The button flat calls...Turn 6...rich makes it 555 and he calls. River 5. Pot is now 2410 and rich has 3030 behind. Rich goes all in and the guy tanks for ages and calls! He has 24os and rich wins a 8k pot with a pair of 5's LOL.

Evening,

We have just had a prop bet on the runners on ft for the mini FTOP's. Me and rich have had £2 each on there being more than 12,600 runners with joe and ive had a bet with rich that there will be less than 13,100 runners. So if there is less than 12,600 runners i lose £2 to joe but win £2 of rich and if there is more than 13,100 runners i win £2 off joe and lose £2 to rich. But if its between 12,600 and 13,100 i win £4. Vallll!!!! I shall hustle! :-)

We are all playing the first event which starts in 15 mins. Its a $20 6 max with starting stacks of 5,000...its going to be an awesome tournament. I plan on winning it :-) The 3 of us have an prop bet on the tourament too. At every break the person with the lowest chip stack has to make the teas and if you are first out you have to make the teas on every hour for the rest of the tourney! :-)

Friday Night,

April invited me out for dinner with her family, which i obviously accepted. She has a bf but he wasnt invited, Valllllll!!!!! We went to pizza express in the forum. We ordered our food, i had garlic dough balls to start which were pure! Then for main all 6 of us got a pizza, we all had been given our main's except april's dad. Everyone started eating because April's dad had been waiting a while.....his pizza turned up and it wasnt the right one. Is that your pizza im eating April's Dad? oh yes, i think it is. Cheers then, we run good.

Later on that night April dropped me off at Tidey's. We invited Boyle round and we all had a dip online. I couldnt win a hand and ended up losing $120 which wasnt too bad. Then around 4 in the morning i saw the funniest hand i have ever seen. Tidey was playing a sitngo, he reraised a player with Kings and the other guy called with Queens. Tidey punched the air with joy. The flop came 9 Q 4....'thats sooooo standard' Turn K........'Yessssss is that mine?!?!?!?!?!!!!!! Me and Tidey go mad........River Q.........HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA, we were dying. it was so funny. We were on the floor in stitches. After we had finshed our session, we went to bed. Tidey couldnt sleep....every 5 mins 'cant believe that queen came'.

Me, tidey, wakes, chaz and matt went to the unthank kitchen to have a serious dip on a full english, continuing the serious dip, we went to corals to have some footy bets. Pre match we were all drawing dead as per. No one had a draw. We then started on the juice......come 6 oclock Mr Wakeham, decided to treat himself to a bottle of vodka within half an hour. We were all Steaming come 7 and thats when i got facebooked raped!!!! Silly P***ks! They changed my status and my birthday! Reesy text me wishing me happy birthday. lol.

We left the southend household at half 7 and walked to the Uni. We were having a few drinks in the square, then all of a sudden old man decided he was Ricky Hatton. He started to attack chaz in a friendly way, it was hilarious. I go to the bar to treat myself to a strongbow, i come back into the square and old man is standing there with his pants down!!!! 'Dooooo i give a shit?!?!?' lol.

We get in the LCR and tidey is having muiltiple dips. First, Standard dip in Yaz.....then he grows a pair and has a dip with Shiv. Later on i am on the dancefloor with boyle and rivers and i see him holding hands with sophie (heading towards the exit), cheeky. Easy Treble came in. To pull the 3 off them it was evens. But Tidey had placed a 4 fold for extra value. The price went from evens to 100/1 (aka pimpdaddy). He managed to get the 4th leg into his bed but it was like a boring scoreless draw. There was no action. No Valll. Always one team that lets you down. :-)

Hi, been running sooo horrifcly bad last few days, here is an example of what i have to put up with, the people i lose to are shockingly bad, their stats arent too bad but they suuuuuuuck sooo bad, this guy i just lost to, was like down 2k which isnt much and he was top 10 worst players ive played, before this suck out he had done it 3 times, 3 times major suck outs is ALOT in HU.

Monday's juicy home game!

Morning amigos,

This post is very late because i have been very busy but it is well worth the wait. On monday, as i said in my previous post, i hosted a home game. 10p/20p holdem cash £20 sit down. I was in seat 1, seat 2 richard jones, seat 3 james tidey, seat 4 dave the dip, seat 5 james tyler and seat 6 was lewi ralph.

Tidey is utg and folds, dave limps, tyler makes it £1.60, i called and dave calls. Flop came 2 3 3, i check dave checks tyler leads for 3.60, i thought and reshipped for 20, tyler intacalls. turn Jack, river 7, i show 99, tyler shows KQos for high card. lolaments. Tyler won £120 last week and was a rack, this week his soul was owned and he was scared to dip for more than 40 quid. HAVE A DIP SON!

tyler goes home after being owned,jason and josh both turn up and are sitting between dave and lewi.

josh had made it a pound blind, jason calls i re raised to 5.50 with JJ from the cutoff. jason was the only caller.Flop comes Q 9 4 rainbow. Jason checks and i check behind. The turn is a 4, jason checks and i bet 7. Jason insta calls, the river comes an 8. I dont put jason on J10 because he wouldnt of played the hand so passively. The way he insta called the turn i felt sure he was going to call me no matter what the river was. I bet £18, jason goes into the tank for ages and then reraises me £28. I then had to reconsider the hand, as this confused me. I felt sure if his hand had any showdown value he would of just called. He may have pocket 8's?!??!?! But why did he go into the tank for ages??(this is unlike jason) I felt sure i was winning and the way i have played the hand i felt sure jason, just thought i was weak. So i called and jason insta mucked. :-)

one hand rich raised from the big blind to 1.20 after everyone had limped, tidey, lewi and i called. flop came Ad 10d 9d rich leads for roughly 2.60, tidey called, lewi made it 6.20 more rich folded tidey called.
Turn 4d. tidey checked, lewi bet 10.50 tidey folded showing 7d5d for a busted flopped flush and lewi turns over Kd2d for the nuts but also a flopped flush. Lucky Old Tidey!!!! You Run Far too Far!!!!

There were alot more big hands but i cant remember them all well enough....Jason and Lewi were busted and went home. So we were left with me, rich, tidey, dave and josh.

So we are playing 5 handed and josh opened for 80p, i am in the cut off and make it £3, its folded to josh and he reraises to £11 and i call. The flop came J 10 4 rainbow. Josh bet £20 instantly and i flat called. The turn came a 2. Josh checked and i checked behind. The river came a 4 and josh instantly bet £45. The way the hand was played i felt sure josh had AK or AQ because i think if he had aces, kings or queens he would on bet the turn on a J 10 high flop. I was 99% sure he had AK or AQ so i called with 99 and he showed AK. SHIP ME THE $$$$$$$$$

Right......its late and im tired. Round Tideys atm. Got a big day on the juice tomorrow so will be updating you on the rivers steam and the sick session we all had round mine last night. Plus i will post about mine, tideys and joes session 2nite, which was very eventful. I think ive saw the sickest hand i have ever seen in my life. So much valll in it. So last nights drunkaments post was very interesting indeed, no val in starting to drink at 7 in the evening then finishing at half past 7 in the morning.
Started of going to a friends house, had dinner with few beers then we headed to a gig, MY FIRST GIG in my life!!! pretty sick, i know. I loved it,m was a lot of fun, as borat wud have said I liiiiiiiike, great success!!:)

Today decided on 2 very important things in my life!

1. Need to meet woman that allows me to call my first born Wolverine

2. Naming my son Wolverine Karlsson! AWESOME i know!

So I can reveal all.

On the train to London the other week I had a call from my professor telling me that if I wanted I could attempt to apply for funding for my MSc course, with a view to doing a PhD. I'd done my research around this before, it is from a council called the ESRC and is uber-competitive. I'd have to run like Joe to even stand a chance. Given I was relatively late in applying, I had to compose a thesis by Friday. So, on 3 hours sleep I got cracking on Thursday with a somewhat ironic thesis title of "The Economics of Problem Gambling." I then had a meeting on Fri which resulted in a 5 hour re-edit + a ton of reading over the weekend, in order for it to be completed.

On Monday I then went onto campus as per to do some work / figured I would have to fill out some paperwork and start completing the personal statement, expectations, goals etc boxes that you get on these forms. Sure enough, I had an email saying go to see a lady and get stuff signed. I get ran through what I need to sign etc, and also get told I have a conditional PhD place (provided I perform well in my MSc), handy! I am then instructed to go and see another lady about filling out forms for the ESRC stuff.

Well this is where it gets good. I walk in, she shakes my hand and congratulates me. Confused, I ask her why, and also confused she replies that I am the nominated candidate for the UEA Economics ESRC Studentship! So I wasn't applying to be considered at all, I'd already been shortlisted and picked. Val!

Of course there was a still alot to do, I had to register with the ESRC and re-edit the thesis etc, you would not believe their application system (is more confusing than parts of my degree), but about 2 hours ago I submitted my application into the pool.

This does not mean, however, that I definately have it - the ESRC still have to review my case - but I have been told I have nothing to worry about as the rejection % is low and I'm a very strong candidate anyway.

The studentship itself is a 1+3 award, so I will get full fees and a generous living expenses allowance for the next 4 years. In the immortal words of Jeal, I run too far!

So, thats my news. Had a mini celebration last week with the family + Hannah, when(if!) I get full conformation I will be definately having some sort of night out, will let you know.

Now back to revision :(

There is sooooo much Vallll in a Steamy Panda, he hasnt tried playing 50 sng's everyday for 5 days straight. If you do that and play 4-8 at a time, you are losing 70/30 and 80/20 on the reg. He was playing 4 at a time and was steaming to the max. It was so much fun. I was crying in laughter.

Last night was pretty brutal and i took a hit of around 4 buy in's ($100), which isnt much when you have a bad session but i was getting it in so good all the time. I see adam has mentioned when i had 8's full and other guy hit runner runner seven's on me. That was pretty sick.

Today i have been trying out 8 sng's at a time, four spread across the screen one behind eachother. Today has gone well....the first 8 i played i was running like last night. Had flush over flush in two of them, when blinds were 50/100 so i was never ever going to get away from that. Then i was left with two. I was in for $200 and its $90 to the winner. I ended up winnning both so i only lost $20 (Handy). Next eight i played i won 4 of the 8 and won $160, then i played 8 more and i won 3 and came 2nd in one of them so i won $120. Ive only played 24 today because me and Steambear were up until 7. But im up $260 for the day :-)

Update on the prob bet...just for owe and Joe :-) its a week since we made the bet tomorrow and ive played 310 6 max sitngo's. Got 690 to play in 3 weeks. :-) easy money. After this i plan on making another prop bet if anyone is interested. I am going to try and play 1500 or 2000 in one month if anyone fancies taking me on. We can discuss terms obviously. I am defo doing 1k :-)

I am not sure if any of you have seen Black Books, but there is an episode where Bernard and Manny write a childrens book. The problem is, it is SO good, that they simply have to destroy it.

That is much the case with my report from last night. I ran SO bad it was unreal, I have never EVER had a session like it. Jeal will testify to my steambear nature. My new spotify account name is even STEAMBEAR, lol.
However, I had so much fun grinding with Lewis that it was also the funnest session I have ever had too. In fear that describing it might result in some sort of Poker world implosion (in that you can lose half roll + have your best session at the same time), I shall simply list a few key moments combined with some of the beats I took.

SNG bubbles, either 18 man or 6 max:

18 man, 6 left, 4 paid: 63 in bb, button limps, i check. We both have 4.5k, blinds 100 200. Board 9 6 3 rainbow, I check, he bets 500 into 500, I decide to overbet shove, he snaps with K9. K turn, gg.

18 man: KK utg 5 handed, so bubble. I have 5k, am in theory short but two people have 6k. Blinds 100 200, i make it 499 utg. BB calls. Board 8 5 3. He bets 400, i make it 999. He flats. Turn 5, he open ships. Am simply not folding here ever. I call, he has K8. 8d river.

2 x Sets vs flopped straights with monkey hands
3 x two pairs vs top pairs counterfeited
Turned flush, get 3/4 of stack in, he rivers 1 outer gutshot straight flush, cheers.

OF COURSE I did win one really funny hand. $9 tournament, 900 runners, FINAL TABLE ONLY paid, so am getting it in all over the shop. I have 6k, a few others do too. Get AKo utg+2. Blinds 125 250. UTG makes it 750, +1 calls...i elect to flat. C/o ships for 5k, bb calls, utg reships, utg +1 calls and its on me. I was going to fold OBV as am crushed here, but Jeal is all play ftw etc and am super steambear so call anyway.

Was up against AA, KK, KQ and 86o. I have Ah Kx, Standard 3 heart flop then the trusty 2h on the turn for them all to be dead...is that my 26k pot with 4% equity pre?! Lol.

Other fun stuff:

- Singing to Celine Dion with scented candles on the go at 4am

- Jeal jumping face down into his bed when his 4 outer comes on riv when deep in donkament (AK vs JJ aipf, J 10 x x Q board)

- Jeal saying oh christ, he has quads when he gets reraised on the river of an 8 K Q 7 7 board..Jeal had 88 and cry called like a fish.

- The man on Spotify telling us he was a freezer

- The countless times we got it in 70:30 preflop when 3 handed, lost, and just laughed at how staaaaandard it was.

- Telling a player called BenNDawn his wife was in the pic was foul, then half of the table jumping in with comments

In general was a pretty funny night. Definately having a session with Joe too soon where we will read souls for fun.

Morning chaps,

Just finshed playing and feel meh! Just played the $20 1r1a $20k gtd on pokerstars. 621 runners, 72 paid $28.6k in the prize pool. You start with 3k in chips and i decided to rebuy straight away and start with 6k. In the first level i didnt get many hands and stay on 6k for the majority. At this time for some reason i was lacking patience, i think it was because i was hungry, so i got some pasta down my beak. In this time when i was lacking patience, i decided to get fruity with 65os in the cutoff. Blinds were 40/80 so i made it 199. Small blind called me and the flop came 7dQd7x, he has 5.5k so i have him covered by 500 chips. He checked and i bet 299 and he called. Turn came a 5 and he led out for 400 so i made it 999 and he called. Reason for my raise on the turn is that i am pretty sure he has 2nd pair like pocket 8's and i wanted to represent strength as i have throughout the hand. Plus raising here means the pot has increased and now on the river he is going to have to call me for his tourament life with 2nd pair and be a hero. I was hoping he would fold but he called. The river came a 4, the pot is now around 3.1k and i have 4.5k behind and he has 4k. He leads out again for 800 and i reraised him all if for his tourament life and he passed, which was handy :-)

At the break im on 8.5k, i pay $20 for a 3k add on and now my stack is 11.5k. Soon after the break i get pocket 8's UTG +1. Blinds are 50/100...UTG makes it 300 so i called, cutoff calls and the button makes it 1k. UTG calls, i call and the cutoff folds. Flops comes 8d 10d 5c.....UTG checks, i check, knowing the button must have Aces or Kings here. Button makes it 2k...UTG makes it 5.5k and go all in for 11.5k. Button only has 2k behind so he calls and so does UTG. Button has got Kings and utg has for Ad4d. SQUEEEZEEE...turn came 2h so now UTG has a gutty aswell. River came the 10h to give me a house. Is that my 28k?

For the rest of the hour i hardly played a hand, was playing a few sitngo's whilist playing the tourney. OMG, was just sitting here, minding my own busy and all over a sudden...THIS IS THE RHYTHM OF THE NIGHT can blasting out of my speakers. Thats scared the S*** out of me. Anyway that was weird. After the 2nd break the blinds were 200/400 and i was taking a few blinds and plodding along nicely. Hardly played a hand for a whole hour. 3rd Break soon came around and i was on 40k.

After the 3rd break the blinds were 600/1200 and my stack was around 40k. I had been on the same table for the last two hours and hardly played a hand...so when i picked up 9 10 suited in the hijack, i treated myself to a raise of 2989 and the button called(stack 30k). Flop came Kh 5h 3s. I fired a continuation bet of 3999 into a pot of around 7k and he called. The turn came 6c and now the pot is 15k and he has 23k behind. At this time my thinking was to represent and simular to earlier in the tournment making a play which is putting the other persons tourament on the line. He hadnt shown any strength in the hand at any stage so on the turn i fired another bullet of 10789, so it was either fold or all in for the other guy. In this situation i am trying to make him think i have AK....after a long time of thinking and me squeezing my bum cheeks together, he decided to fold. Good fold :-) That pot puts me on 48k

Next blind level 800/1600 i pick up kings UTG +2, UTG ships for 5k and i flat call hoping that someone finds AK QQ JJ or something someone fancies getting fruity with and making a squeeze play. As it turns out everyone folds and im up against Q9os and the board came K high. See ya. Now on 56k....guy in the cutt off makes it 4k so i raised with A9os to 9999 and he called. Flop came A 9 4.....RACK! He checked and i checked behind. He only has 18k left so im hoping by checking behind he ships any turn, Turn came a 7 and he bet 6k so i made it 33333 and he folded :-)

Few hands later i am UTG+2 and i have 8's with a stack of around 75k. UTG raises to 4k and he has me covered so i call. Button calls and the small blind makes it 14k. UTG folds and i would normally fold but i felt sure he hd AK so i decided to call (LAGGY) and the button folds. The board came down 6c7c7d. He then led for 18k leaving himself 50k behind and i flat called because i felt sure he had AcKc. And you all know me, i like to do my action on the turn. But this left me about 45k behind. STRANGE HAND!!!!! turn came another 7 and he insta checked which i thought was handy and i decided to check behind. The river came a 10 and he checked so i checked behind too. He had AcKc...reading souls as per. Standard Tidey comment! But that hand was weird but it got me up to 130k and i was chipleader at the 4th break.

After the 4th break the blinds were 1.5k/3k. I picked up Loyal 3's in middle position and raise to 7989 and the small blind calls me. I was very suspect of this guys call. I wasnt putting another chip in the pot unless i hit a 3. So there is 20k in the pot and the flop comes 3 3 10! BOOOM!!!!! absolute dream flop! I couldnt believe it and im sure this guy is slow playing a big pair aswell. HE checks to me and i bet 11999. He takes he time....he has got 90k behind. Im praying that i am reading souls again and i right about him slow playing a aces or kings. And he ships HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!! IS THAT ALL GOING TO BE MINE?!?!?!? Insta call and he has got Jacks. Goodbye Son. 3 hands later ive still got 260k and im UTG with AKsuited. i raise to 8999. button calls and BB ships for 50k more....i took my time for alittle while was hoping he was making a squeeze play and that we werent flippin....so i reshipped and he had Queens and i lost :-(

Back down to 200k and we have a new arrival on the table, he has got chips and he is being a loose cannon. I raised the button with A10 and he reraises from the small blind. Next hand i get AKos and the blinds are 2.5k/5k and i make it 12898 and he insta raises to 36k. I take my time and reship. He snap calls with AQos and i punch the air. Flop comes KdQd5s i shout YES, GET IN. turn comes a 9 and the river comes a queen. see you later lewis......

That pot was for 420k....it put him on 550k and 4 hands later he was down to 225k. He called two reraises with A3 suited and pocket 2's and lost both. And that me feel Meh!!!!! Standard shat on in the latter part of a tourney for me.

On the plus side....sitngo wise. I have now played 167 in 3 days. I had a fairly standard day at the office....Things are now looking better and im in profit now. I feel like i have tuned my game quite well already. Espically my play in the first 2 level of the sitngo's which is quite vital. Need to tune my game 3 handed thought i think...i duno. Im constantly giving it a thought because i keep getting in spots where i raise the button and a guy ships and im getting 2/1 so i call hoping my cards and live and then end up losing. Need to borrow that book off Boyle. Tomorrow 3 handed im going to be less aggressive and try and not get in such spots as often. Im not sure. If you have any opinion or advice you would like to give about this then that would be nice.

Right, i best head off to bed....ive been wrting this for ages and i havent bothered rereading so enjoy the mistakes. Rivers is picking me up at 8 in the morning and we are going to grind at his for a while. Then around 12 we are meeting up with sandra and april. Valllllll.

Hi guys,

Was meant to post this when i got in last night, but the internet was down and has been down until now. Standard run GOOD! Lucky old Owe!

Yesterday was a more successful day, i played 54 sitngo's and didnt run bad which was nice. Felt like it was a Standard day at the office, rather than constantly getting shat on! I started the day by playing 9 at one time, which was fun and interesting. The first one i played i was out within 5 mins. I thought here we go.......blinds are 10/20, guy utg makes to 80, guy in the cut off calls.....im on the button with aces. I made it 500 to try and represent AK. The guy utg insta ships for 1500 other guy folds and i call. He had 10's and yes you knowwwww it came 10 high. Happy days!!!

Then i managed to get heads up in 3 of them, 2 of them were against a friend. Martin Futter (frogboy2002) and i was also playing 3 handed in 2 others at the time. Managed to walk queens into Aces 3 handed and i won all the 3 heads up which was handy :-)

Today i am obviously starting late and wont play as much, But i dont mind starting later because at this time of day there is a reg (pokerpro333) who is quite good. He plays 12 at a time but if im playing 9 and he is on all of my tables, then i am losing alot of value. One, he has been playing 12 for ages and has earnt 45k this year from an average stake of $31 and Two ive never played 9 sitngo's in my life so my ROI isnt going to look as healthy, as if i was playing 4 at a time instead. Also the other reg that there is no value in playing is skillivey. Check these two out of Sharkscope. Skillivey stats are better!!!!!! They are ranked 1 and 2 i think in making the most profit in 5-6 handed sitngo's with a buy in between $16-$35.

Anyways, last night was quite fruity. April asked me to go for a couple of drinks with her and Sarah. So i invited Pbear and we went along to the rivergarden. I got a guinness in and Pbear got some gay drink that ive never heard of. We Sit down and Boyle's housemates are sitting behind up. That was strange. They just went for about a 4 mile wonder and ended up there apparently lol. Boyle's housemate is having a dip, with the leeds oldham bet he had with dave! Anyways after a couple there we decide to go to office....6 guinness later im in optic with Chris Brown, Richard, Scott and some others. Scott is going bk to uni 2day so we thought we would go out. Chris goes...Jeal fancy a Jaga? yeh why not, we will have dips. we get it down our beaks. 10 secs later, Chris.....fancy a Jaga? yeh why not! you know where this is going! lol Anyway did 4 of them and i was away with the fairies. I was certainly treating self! Chris is then trying to get with some rough bird who had shorter hair then him!!!!! lol. Left optic and ended up going to Havana for the first time. WHAT A DUMP! i was smashed. Standard lost wallet and ran good because security man found it for me! We were having a boogie with 44 year old women. Vallllllll!!!!! This is the sickest part of then night. Go to get a taxi on prince of wales at about 4...guy says we havent got anything for another 45 mins....call up loyal.....sorry mate got nothing for the next half an hour. Ok, cheers mate. Me in my mess of a state, decides to walk home. No value in that! Open the front door at 7 in the morning :-) And currently i feel like absolute S***! So today i am taking it easy and will probably play around 10-20 max!

Haven't played since jeals little home game, something which will prob be a continual trend. Am so focussed on getting exams and msc stuff done atm that i haven't got much time for poker.

Having said that, I am now off for a meeting with someone about some sort of deal for Poker Soc next year, so that will be interesting. Then its back to the revision grind!

Having a bbq tomo with family, my gf and sisters bf which should be fun as we just bought a new one and this is going to be a test run. Salmonella ftl. No plans for weekend bar revision and more work, same goes for the next few weeks. Sigh.

Am looking to get Brand New tickets off ebay tho and treat myself to a day in London. Will prob go to the empire after too since that worked out well last time / is cheaper than a hotel!

Evening amigos,

Its been a long and rough day. I didnt get off to the best of starts and never really recovered. Within my first 20 sitngo's i had bubbled by walking into aces 4 times and kings once, when i had 10's, JJ, AK, AQ and 9's 3 handed. The 9's, AK, AQ were all in preflop and with the 10's and Jack's, it was blind on blind and i flopped an over pair to the board twice. BB obviously slow played his aces and the turn came a brick and i was, see you later!.

I wasnt running very well at all, losing alot of 70/30's but when you play that amount of poker in one day you do see it all. Lost every 80/20 i had with aces. I had aces 3 times all pre against 10's twice and jacks once and didnt win one. I did however flat call a raise with jacks twice and it came jack high and both times, they managed to have queens and gave me there muns! Which was handy.

Overall i played 77 sitngo's today which is a big step towards the prop bet, but unfortunately i am down $210, but i am pretty sure i can come back strong tomorrow and hopefully run alittle abit better. I will also try and tune a few leaks in my game whilist i am playing and learning everyday then hopefully i shall be having SHIPMENTS tomorrow :-)

I did notice a comment on my previous post by Panda...Saying he would like to have £10 to £25 like joe, that i wouldnt do it. However, i had played 30 by 3pm and Panda has now deleted that comment, he doesnt know ive read it lol. All these non believers!!!! Soooooo Standard!!!!!

Anywayz, its time for me to hit the sack. Big day tomorrow.

Hola,

This has been a crazy week. Can't really say much now but atm am doing some stuff thats potentially the best thing since sliced bread (for me.)

Hopefully have a pretty sick update soon...will keep updating with bet progress tho. (Sidenote: I have been told you can see a difference in my tummy. Ship.)

Morning fella's,

Day 1 hasnt got off to the greatest start. Ended up having a home game after going out for a meal with some poker friends last night. We were playing until half 3 and i ended up doing my bollocks in a 10p/20p game. Thought it was going to be a deepstacked game and i was really looking foward to it. But somehow there was someone making it £11 pre when there was £1 in the pot. I saw alot og interesting stuff last night.....i think i got the worst seat in the house. On my right i had dave the dip and tyler...laggy players and always not believers and to my left i had panda(station when out of pos) and rich...who just called me down :-) as it went, i ended up hitting a pair about 3 times all night....so that was fun.

Anywayz i shall post later on with how i got on today. My plan is to over do it in the first week and try and do 40/50 a day so i dont end up having a 48 hours session at the end of the month :-)

Jealette has no chance of making the bet we all know, last time he tried he managed to play like 220 games ina month and this was HU, which we all know take less time. However he bascially needs to play 7 h a day to have a chance, and this is without going broke, without one days breaks cause then he needs to have a sick session, and also he needs to be playing 5 games at the same time to have a chance hehe :) taking on this bet is one of the best things ive ever done :) LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

However, about Vegas, was thinking we should hit a roadtrip to California if everyone is down? might get myself a nice honey from the O.C that can be my sugarmama so i can just enjoy myself down there :)

San Diego, San Fran and maybe San B could be real cool taking alike a day there and crash at sum sloppy place for few bux then party hard like we obv do:) Joe u can be my Wingman, and Jeal u can be the dude harrasing the girl when me and Joe come and save her, awesomeness!!! its gonna be Legendaryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy:)

Me and my friend Owesph were just chatting on Facebook. He was trying to abuse me by saying i have no chance of grinding. I was planning on playing about 600 but now owe says there is no chance i can play 1000 in one month. It will mean me playing everyday around 6/7 hours but ive taken a bet. He has given me 5/2 and im having £50 on. I will keep the market open for any others that fancy a bet. The more money i stake the more determine i will be to have no life. Serious Grind

Morning fella's,

Im going to be doing some serious grinding for the next 2 months and i plan on 4 tabling $23 + 2, 6 max sit n go's on pokerstars. My target is to get up in the morning around 8/9 and then playign two sets of 4 tables (2hours work). Then go to the gym most days and then have lunch. Come back and put in 3 shifts of 4 tables (3 hours). Have tea then enjoy myself in the evening! I shall definately keep you posted with that section. My username is moonwatch79 so treat youself if your bored at home.

As you all know i am not really the grinding type, hence the ups and downs and the shot taking etc....ive played in alot of games, where i have been sitting on faces and ive also played in alot of games where i have been shat on but we live and we learn. And we finally decide after 3 years of playing then grinding is FTW! Its also taken me 3 years to not STEAM like most ppl do. No val in tilting online = -ROI.

I will be posting most evening after i have finshed my shifts, just to keep myself in check and you guys can see how fun my life is :-) Btw on sharkscope i am currently on $750 before today. So we are starting from there. Anywayz i better start Day 1.

Hola people!

Ive actually been a good boy today, didnt have a hangover, went for a stroll around Madrid and the weather is finally a bit better here so that was lovely.

Went home played few games ended up but not much, was really pleased with my game and had some minor coolers. played a multi table comp, and went out like third hand, 6max tables 8k guar, 20 bux buy in, i raise from button with Q9s flop comes K103 i re raised a dude that bet 40 into 200 pot, guy behind smooth calls (eeek) and so does the other dude, turn falls a beautiful J (bingo?) Nope, guy that msoothcalled behind has AQ we get it all in and "Ya está" (thats it) fiiiiiiiisk i am indeedio!

Then spoke to my personal little connection about the year to come with the poker society, we decided that we are going to meet up during the summer in Stockholm and discuss deals for our pokersoc next year. shud be a great oppurtunity :)

And i will also contact Rob at the pokerclub and sort sum kind of deal out for him too as this guy is one of the best and biggest affiliates in the world hence better deals for everyone.

That is that, super excited about Vegas!

And super proud to come from the best poker university , again, WELL DONE BOYS!!

UK Student Poker Champions 2009!

We're back from london, 2.5k richer and tbh had such a good time the money was just a bonus.

Full TR here, cliffnotes at the bottom:

4pm: In theory we should all be at station. Joe car has been hit so he's running late, and Dave is somewhere in the underground network so he's running late. Me, Jeal (railing ftw) Wakes and Tidey find a ladbrokes and have a horse dip. I'm chuffed since I've just had a phone call confirming my MSc place for next year!

4.45pm: Everyones here. Team McDonalds (lol) then we walk from Liverpool st in what we think is the place.

5.30pm: Arrive at the loose cannon club 1 hr early, so hunt for a nearby pub. We get a table next to the thames and proceed to play a turbo sng. "making a boat on the thames!"

6.30pm: Go back to LCC. Get greeted by PokerPlayer magazine, apparently they love my "iShip" username. There's a free bar, and I am not drinking, standard. Leeds turn up already hammered, Reading appear in named shirts and LSE are sitting about without a care in the world. We get told to finalise our team orders etc, then about 7 we kick off. It was one table of Leeds vs Reading and one of UEA vs LSE, with 2 matches going at once (then when one match finished another starting). The starting stacks are 4k at 25 50 with 10 minute blind levels, so a bit of a shoot, but not toooo bad.

First up for UEA were Joe and Tidey. Joe gets a guy from LSE who looks alright but after a few hands you could see he was way too nitty for HU. Tidey gets a bit of a spew monkey and has to make a couple of gay laydowns early, but grinds back to even, then gets a chiplead. With blinds at 200 400 or so Tidey gets it in with AQs vs 99 (tidey covers by a fair bit) and binks a Q on the flop to put us 1-0. This means I now start my match against a guy called Alvin. Was a really nice guy, very talkative which was handy and made it very clear when he was weak / bluffing. I check raised a couple of times with air and double barrelled once to keep me in it as i was ridiculously dry. With my blinds getting a bit higher Joe is getting it in on the other table. He had 3:1 chiplead and shipped with A7 from the sb and LSE had A9. Joe of course hits a 7 on flop and another on river for trips, was a standard spot though and there were no complaints from LSE who had let himself go down to 4BBs anyway! 2-0 UEA.
This meant Dave got underway vs a bit of a loony whilst I still struggled on running like crap on the other side of the table. I was at 5k:3k with blinds at 200 400 when I see Dave winning a decent sized pot, and being 5k:3k chip leader on his game. The guy he was playing kept making it 600 to go at 50 100, Dave picked up LOYAL 3's and ended up shipping...of course the other guy had AK. But, as we all know 3's are loyal and they held for 3-0!
Like that the pressure was off me, I got it in at 400:800 as a 40:60 dog twice, once to double up then once for the win and won both to leave us with a 4-0 scoreline. Happy days.

9pm: We broke for dinner elated and with Reading vs Leeds still underway. By this point leeds were smashed and reading should really win, which they ended up doing 4-1.

10pm: We start the final. 8k stacks but at 50 100, so no different really!
Wakes has been moved up our order to 1st so him and Joe start. Wakes opponent is a very emotional player and although it was even for a while Wakes was 10:6k, then 12k 4k, then 13k 3k. At 300 600 the guy limps and Wakes ships with A9. His oppo looks a bit frustrated and moans at wakes for being too aggressive etc (lol) and calls off with J10. A 10 on the flop and running bricks means its now 10k 6k again, and we're at 400 800. at ~12k ~4k Wakes ships with 67 and gets snap called by A10, we don't win our 40:60 for the win and now its even stacks! This really sucked since we wanted to get off to a good start, and we're now 8k:8k at 400 800. Given the amount the guy was folding Wakes decided to ship with 5s 2h on the sb, unfortunately our emotional opponent had AKhh so of course snapped. So another 35:65 for UEA, 3rd time lucky? Flop comes Ks 10s 9h and our goose looks cooked. But we still have 6% equity which is all Wakes needs...6s turn gives us a flush draw and the 2s is our 5 high flush, UEA 1-0. The guy was pretty funny, jumping back and sounding the bad beat alarm, but at the end of the day it was 3 flips where we were once favourite, once 60:40 dog and once 65:35 dog, everyone one of them for the UEA win....so its not exactly beat of the year.

Tidey then starts his game vs a guy who seemed alot like Tidey, but it was clear that we had a decent edge. Was no discredit to the Reading guy, it's just Tidey is a hu sng player predominatly. Joes game is still going on, blinds 500 1k! Eventually Joe gets 44 on the sb with 8.8k:7.2k and ships, Reading have AA and Aces hold. Joe doubles and doubles again to be on 4k, then they get it in Q3dd vs 32hh and its Readings turn to suck out in the 30:70 as a heart flush fills on the river for an 8k pot. 1-1.

So now I'm playing the Reading president as Tidey plays next to me, and seems to be owning souls as per calling with A high on a K 9 9 4 2 board and shipping a 3k pot.
Unfortunately I run into AA about 20 hands in which isn't nice, and am quickly down to 4k. I grind back to 6k after check raising with air, was pretty sick how bad I ran when it came to decent hu hands. Couldn't get a K10+ to save my life! Get 22 on the button at 200 400 andlimp, he checks. Board comes QQQ. He check calls 500, pot 1800. Turn is a K, he leads for 1200. I didn't want to see an A or K turn as I was pretty sure he was just calling the flop with A/K high, but I don't see why he leads ever since he loses all value from lesser hands and he seemed competetent enough to know that. So I make the call, pot now over 4k and I have 4k behind. River is an 8 and he checks, I of course check behind. He has A8 for a river 6 outer and I lose a pot to put me back on starting stack. Cheers then. A few hands later I pick up 77 and make it 1k, he flats. Board comes J 3 2 rainbow, he checks and I get tricky and check behind. Turn the 6c putting out a flush draw, he checks again and I meekily bet 1250 like a bluff. He pretty quickly reships and I think I have to call given how I've played the hand. He has KJ, wp, and I don't hit my 2 outer. 2-1 Reading.

Dave starts vs their supposed worst player, who got 3 points overall in the online qualifiers. Was a really nice guy but you could tell he wasn't exactly superb. One hand the board read Q 9 3 9 two diamonds two hearts. Reading led, Dave raised, Reading 3 bet, Dave 4-bet shoved and he folds, apparently with a flush draw. Given he was getting 3:1 and it was for the whole tournament win I doubted it, but lucky old Dave is up to 11.5k:5.5k and looking good.

Tidey is on 11k:5k at 500 1000 and like a true hero gets it in with 99 vs A2. Of course the A rolls off on the turn, emotional reading guy who is now getting quite happy and explaining where he's going to put the novelty cheque is of course chanting, as Tidey just sits back and takes the beat like a gent. 6k:10k ish.

Back o Daves table, we see Dave open from the sb and Reading call. Board comes 8 7 2 rainbow. Reading lead, and Dave raised to about 1.6k iirc. Reading ship all in, if Dave calls and loses he'll still have 6k or so. Dave announces call. Reading flip A8 for tptk and Dave flips 99 for the overpair, Reading have 5 outs. (I thought Dave had 89 at the time, lol.) Dave holds and we're 2-2 with Tideys match still going! We had discussed a chop but the Reading prez said no, so it was Tidey grinding ftw. He of course pulls back his deficit to be 10k:6k again without showdown, with blinds now at 600 1200.
Reading ship from the SB and Tidey announces call. Reading flip Kh 8h and Tidey has Ah 6d. WIN A 60:40 ONE TIME?!?!?!

Board: 6h (YES!) Qh (sick) 9h (FUCK.) Reading go a bit barmy, but me and wakes (shouting) realise we still have the Ah for the nutflush redraw.

Turn: Kc.

River: 3h. GET IN!!! We all went a bit nuts, standard loyal 3 coming on the riv for the win. Reading were awesome about it too, a tad dejected (as im sure we would be too) but we both agreed it was a pleasure playing each other in the final. Photoshoot for PokerPlayer magazine (I am BRIGHT RED in the photos, normal) and one big novelty cheque for $2.5k. Ship it.

We then all had some drinks and headed to the empire casino at leicester sq, where everyone asked me about my giant cheque. Lorenzo from poker soc was there too, hero. Thank god there was a cloakroom though, I didn't fancy walking around with it all night! We played some 1/2 cash and roulette etc til 5am, and Wakes got smashed. Headed back to liverpool st to get the 6am train back to Norwich. I left with £40 in my wallet and came back with £43 thanks to roulette spin ups!

Was pretty much the sickest 24 hours in recent history.

eneded up playing a lil bit last night was very stabil, won like 300$ then called it a night and went out wiv sum friends was a good night, then when i got back i saw BrownO from UEA playing the 1k event at stars and making it deepish, i think he scooped 2k or sumthing for the trouble which isnt bad :)

Im not 100% sure i saw how the hand was played out but, BrownO is in early pos, utg+1 i think, flop comes 226 then action turn brings a 10 and here theres some small action i think, not sure though, river brings Q so now we have 22610Q no flush.

Browno bets 19.999 and the other dude insta raises to 41k or so. leaving browno 10k or slightly more, browno reships here with AQh.

Just thought id give my opinion view on this hand:

I wud most likely have given up the hand earlier, river is very harsh yes, pretty hard to get rid off, however, theres not that many fish or mugs playing the 1k buy in, and a lot of satteliters are gona by now, and the reraise on river is by 66 1010 KK AA, AQ maybe KQ Q10 combo of a deauce is very unlikely though, even QQ is more likely. I wud cry fold here im pretty sure, but like i said not 100% sure the action, if it was without action its even easier fold since some ppl flopp 6s full here and just check to induce action.

Hello people, hope ur easter has been and is lovely! I have been treating myself good the last month, have had a ton schoolwork and therefore not been playing much at all, but nevertheless i have been winning and school is going well :)

Last month was up almost 4k so that was nice for the old BR, Cant wait for vegas and im pretty excited just hope nothing goes wrong now hehe!

Just got back from Barcelona 2 days ago and i must say that it was a pretty sick city, AMAZING! i really enjoyed it and it involved every kind of value from getting caught by overly aggresive barcelonian police to sick val in me! good food awesome people and some fab sightseeing! highly recomended, will add a video compilation later today at facebook for those who have me there and u will see how sick it was!

will grind a bit today and 2moro too, as i dont have any school then! weather here is shit at the moment dont know why and got a bit of a cold since i was basically drunk non stop for 3 days in barcelona!
Being inspired by Adams propbetting i am now getting on the case, going in for a weigh in ( see how much i weigh, then deciding to lose some weight before a certain time then see if anyone wants some action, will most likely give some good odds since that will really inspire me!

EASTER PLANS

I am aware I haven't posted for a while. Well thats mainly due to a tonnnn of work appearing (2 exams, 2 essays, 2 weeks) which rendered me housebound and postless. Have also fit in a fair few hours for partypoker work over the past month so thats been hours away from potential playing time!

Am now on Holiday (well, revision-day) for 4 weeks, but do have some poker plans:

1. Stars SCOOP series

Played the 27,000 runner 6max 5R on stars last night at joes. Came ~3500 i think for $26, was in for $30.50, meh. Joe ended up ~350th for $150. KK vs J10 on 10 high board when half stacks were in, 10 on turn and it was a ridic hard fold against laggy nutter. Felt sick for him, he was gutted.

I have a rowing friend who's in Norwich over easter so i'll be running 3x a week and doing erg sessions 3x a week minimum. Hopefully i'll be a bit more toned for the summer!

Tuesday 7th 2 miles + 1st ever erg
Thursday 2 miles + erg
Saturday 4 miles

And repeat, maybe adding some miles along the way and a quick 1.5m run on a wed. I want to comfortably be able to run 6 miles again by Monday 4th May.

I also have 3 eco exams and 1 mandarin written to revise for. Happy days.

On the upside, am finalisiing vegas plans for the summer, looks like 3 weeks from mid aug! :D

10. - $16.50 hu - Out 2nd round. Won against 1st guy with a sick cooler in my favour, flopped a set vs his nut flush and 2 overs draw, turn bought me quads and him nut flush. ha! Next guy was complete donkey, -22% roi over lots of hu games. Shame he WOULD NOT MISS mind you. Sick. Didnt play event 11 as out mealing, and cant play the $55 tonight as out drinking, oh well.

Exercise plan:

Am now doing daily ab work and running 4 times a week. Is pretty fun actually, hpoefully i'll notice a differnce both physically and mentally soon. Who knows.

Me and Jeal are giving up alcohol from 9th april - 9th may. Is going to be hard given the weather outside and my lifestyle, but meh. Taking action at evens if anyone wants it, no min, max of £250.

Hi everyone, I wont be posting for a little while.. Have cashed out all but the remnants of my BR, after a horrendous tilt session, costing me ~40% of BR.. very poor discipline obv. sealed the deal in $33 6 handed SNG.. am in 3rd, and in strong position in chips, chip leader only has about 0.2 BB more than me, and together we have 80% of chips.. I have pocket 7's and I call an AIPF against pocket 10s.. normally in that spot, I would normally fold, the likelyhood is I would have ended up with $90, or prob actually $210, if I fold but end up donking it off to the chip leader with that hand, and go busto.. Party BR, down to under $10.. I know that the best thing for me to do is to take a complete break from online poker.. so have cashed out, money will come in handy at the moment anyways.. Lesson has been learnt, and (hopefully) will not be repeated.. I am in profit for past couple of months over all anyways, but would have been much better off, if today had never happened..

tbh. tho, my play in that 6 handed SNG was really, good, I was dominating most of the field, and made chip lead, even though I was getting no decent hands.. Had been stealing a bit, had semi-loose agg. image, this guy had got very lucky throughout, knocking out a guy early on who was playing much better than him.

I think I may take Owes advice about increasing my BR. Maybe will leave internet poker alltogether until after exams, then fund with half a K or something, so that I can play a bit higher stakes, developing my game a bit more.. my ROI is better at higher stakes, so maybe that will work out..

So for me it is live poker only at the moment...

I had pocket queens in this HU SNG.. Any thoughts on how I may go about getting some more money in pot? This guy was playing quite passive, but was often bluffing turn, so I think my line was probably the only one likely to get any more val.. but not sure.. River is not a good card even though it makes the quads, I think I would like a K or something there.. Next hand I tid. :D

I had been down to 160 in chips in that SNG.. :D lol.. he hit straights on 3 out of first 5 hands, I had been raising PF, and he calls with 37 sooted.. I have (A6s) and he makes straight when flop is 4 6 A, I bet a bit, he raises, I call, turn is blank, I bet he raises, I call, River is [5], I bet, he calls (wtf.)and shows the straight.. I'm like WTF.. :D LOL.. he is a donk, don't know how he manages to have such a small loss rate.. :S.

Monday: 3 x $30 hu sngs vs big fish, 3/3. Basically he was a nutter and i held up in a 75:25, 80:20, and one where he was drawing dead. Ha!
Then played a 25p 50p cash game at jeals, up £55.

Tuesday: Charity poker night at uea. Won £15 in the 10/20 game palying like a spewfish, woot. £100 raised for nightline, hoorah.

Wednesday: Breakeven, played like 1 game as was tired. Stayed at home alone too, discipline ftw!

Thursday: No play, gf cooks me meal. Val!

Friday: Stuck £35 without playing after I get a parking ticket. Fml.
Stuck $60 on hu in the afternoon.
We held at £25 deepstack freezout at UEA thats running over 2 weeks. Only got 20 runners, i guess cos of cost. 8 left, am 3/8 with just above avg stack. Tidey Jeal still in, so will be tough, but I feel myself taking it down the way ive been playing recently.

Saturday: Mostly did Uni work, then stuck $80 hu playing terrible players on $20s and $30s. Pretty sick tbh, should have been in proff let alone break even. Varianceaments. Gf's in evening, restaurant + dvds. I love pecans.

Today: Did some important reading in afternoon for an essay im about to start on Monetary policy. Tbh i don't know really where to begin, but i think i'll get there.
Came 15th in the freeroll, button raised and i shipped, he called with A9 which is obv crushing 85o and it held. Meh.
Was stuck $60 in no time hu, but rallied back to $50 prof. Should be $60 more if one luckbox didnt win 3 30:70s to stay in, then a flip ftw, but there you go!

Tilt, Player Selection and Grind

Hi guys..

Opened account on onGame network today, following the success that Rivers and Owe have on it, decided I would give it a blast.. Started great.. chose some fishy players in HU SNGs, ftw. (also purchased some sharkscope searches ftw.)

Then had a blast with a $5 HU SNG.. -$5.50 ftw. A visiter had come to see me, and I was mid game, and rushing..

I was happy with play up to that point, so decided (foolishly.. I will hit a $10 one, and win back the loss) obv. didnt work.. -$11 then.. once again the tilt drove me to another $10 turbo HU SNG.. and expectadly.. same result.. -$11.

With the money I initially was up, my $25 trial buy in is now at ~$1!! I have a dip for $25 more, and take a break..

Come back for a $5 full table SNG... lose. but happy with play. Anyway go for dinner.. Open up a couple of $5 full table SNGs.. end up 1s in one, and 2nd in other.. bringing BR to $51.20.. so thats 1.20 profit! LOL

Anyway.. I decide I am done for the night.. watch the rest of highstakes s5 ep1.. and get inspired to play again.. Its late, and I'm tired, so decide it will be $1 SNGs only.. Open up a couple, bust out of one, bad beat, but not especially so, and not worth analysing :) other table I am above average.. I open up another to sit along side (these are all 10 handed turbos)come 1st in both the others..

Anyway end result is that my balance stands at $61.60 I was down a fair bit, but once I got back in the right frame of mind, and back in a comfort zone with regards my BR.. I was playing at probably about 80% and tbh. you dont need any better than that at the microstakes, as the other players skill levels tend to mean, untill you are HU, you are down to basic strategy type play... with the odd bit of imagination ftw.. :D

So it's another $11.60 for the bankroll, and another day where I finish in profit.. which is good. And allthough I deviated from my BR's capacity, and showed little tilt discipline, I was able to come good again by reverting back to what I know deep down is when I play my best..

I missed, POKSOC tonight, as was intending to do EU Law Coursework.. as it turns out, I am up till after midnight, and so far today have not done a single piece of CWK.. still I have tomorrow free.. :D LOL

hey now
haven't posted for a while so thought would give update on my current poker life.
achieved task of doubling bankroll last friday at npc (me and adam had grind on the mind) and was now concentrating on playing 6max $20sng.
Decided to play earlier in week, which was not a good idea. i had had some work on at uni, and lack of sleep and just decided to play for the sake of it. this resulted in less than optimal play and me managing to lose about -$100 from my BR. I still do this from time to time, which annoys me as i wish i had some more discipline and knew when i am going to play my best and not.
Punished myself by going back down to $10 6msx sngs where i thought i would grind back the $100 i lost. Was actually 4 tabling for a while, which had some mixed success. i suppose i would have to save some hand historys to review how well i was playing in key spots. though managed to get back the $100 i had lost.
played 2 more $10 sngs and cashed in one and decided was time to get back to the $20s.
I don't know if its cause i lost $100 other day but felt i have been running pretty bad lately, mainly online and a litttle bit live.
Out of the 4 $22 sngs i played i cashed in one for 2nd, where i got 90% of chips in with top pair on turn agasint a bare flush draw that he hit no problem.
then was 3handed, and second in chips. chip leader was bb i was button with jjs blinds were 80/160. make it 400 from the button that i had been doing consitently short handed. chip leader shipped i called (as he had been shoving all in from the first level instead of raising) he had kq - flop q 10 10, turn k (got a lil bit exicted at his point) river k - cheers then.
Playing the third one was chip leader, then lost two 60, 40s agasint short stacks to put me short.

I have about 2:1 chip lead for most of the game, make it into 3:1, and then with blinds at 50-100, he starts shipping all the time.. he gets down to 600 behind and ships, I think it is 60:40 that my J9 is good, and even if he doubles through I still have 2:1 chip lead on him, so, I am happy to call..

Today only played 3 games won 2 and lost 1 the one i lost was when limping with AA vs spewy wild fish, who like i thought pushed, he had 22 flop was 1010J K then of course 2 on river, i had him covered slightly and doubled up once more beofre losing a 65-35%all in for decent stack and what prob lead to win, oh well... playing very well at the moment, and avoiding beats.

roll now over 8k with the rakeback that i treated myself to, so thats good :) wasnt long ago i did the little project with the 5k startover :)) Hopefully i can roll this up to 10k before end of month, but im happy with what a fish like me can get !!

Going to get my haircut, its ALMOST a symphaty haircut, my buddy here looks like a champinjon and really needs one and im gonna force him to cut that horrible thing off lol!

will play more tonight, and soon weekend so will treat myself to like min 100 games then :)

Today has been good, only had time for a few games but so far so good:)
46$x5 so won all games today pretty handy :) 230$. was really lucky once J32 flop vs fish who pushed had him covered bit more than 2:1 chiplead hence the loose call with J8 off he had AJ and i spike 8 on river :) The other game i kinda got lucky too, i was being uberaggresive and reraised flop och 678 with J10 then 5 fell and he min bet and i bet 75% and he thinks then calls with Q10 and river brings abeautiful 9 and he insta shovs, obv i call and win!

other than that was just playing well and grinding them down, one guy kept calling my raises and folding oop which was welcome, didnt play a single profit player, which i obv always tend to avoid :)

Today, playe dlike 10 games so far, came home from school super knackered and just wanted to sleep for a while, played one game first which i won easy, then watched new High stakes poker which was real cool :) Durrr just seems like an uber arrogant idiot imo, looking forward to see Ilari start mixing it he is def one of my fav players.. hope he takes durr for a few big pots!

had a sick long siesta, was wonderful althou slept for too long, started playing awhile ago and had a crap start, Lost 3 in a row vs same dude he was horrible real easy to play but he kept getting lucky agasint me, then after goin of slightly in the chat offered him up to a 100 game, than ended up in 3 of them, non turbo of course, his luck ran out and i scoped all 3 :) so up for the day.

Talked to Jeal today and he reckosn he will play more games than me, good luck chuck is all i can say about that hehe, not that i play uberly much but no chance buddy!

was thinking of my game today and one thing i do much vs a little bit better players is i tend to 3 bet them more, never do that unless i have pretty solid hand vs fish cause they anyway call and its harder to play deep big pots when u cant put them on any hands...

hmmm i saw some HUSNG coaching vids the other day and must say they were horrilble, well tbh they werent bug players but still...awful, and the players had like 1% ROI and not that great stats, weird i wonder if anyone buys their service hehe..

Hi as you know last month was terrible for me, but managed to recover from being about 1800 down to 270 down so atleast that was good :)
Somehow scraped enough games to get over 1k in rakeback and that is obviously welcome, so all in all up for the month.

This month have a goal of making 2k min, hopefully without including the rakeback but we will see.
Today will deposit a feww 100s on partypoker to try out those seas, will be playing very lowish, but u can always follow the progress or lack of at sharkscope.com.

Pretty much it, been playing good and running pretty gd lately, just need to get the games in :)

Going to gym at 5 today and now i will be doing some homework tonight be grinding and hopefully scooping the party stundetn thingy.

What a weekend it has been so far....

Live: Played the £10 double at npc last night with the poker society, + Nick (chalfont) was around this way so played too. I was out in the mid stages 3-barrelling a tight guy with J9hh on a A65 A 9 board when i was sure he had KK or QQ and could fold, alas i was wrong as he reallllly cry called the river with KK. Oh well. Chal came 10th i think with 8 paid :( running KQ into bigstacks AA 5 handed, wp gg ul!
Then played the .50 1 game, dropped 2 buyins. Got two outered for a 160 pot, then 4 outered for a 130 pot, ofc bricked a double gutshot when getting about 8:1 implied + 2:1 straight up potodds and then got it in with AJs on a J108 one spade board in a raised pot pre when i had 20 behind against 79. Turn was the Qs giving me a shit ton of outs, alas we brick. Boo.

Me and Joe then played online til about 7am, I played a fair bit of HU and ended up $60 or so, putting the account on $1001 - finally broken the 1k barrier! Was a good feeling.

Today I didnt get up till late then did some PhD research stuff for a thesis. I'm looking into doing something around competitiveness of online gambling, or another vulnerable consumer group topic.

I then played a $10 husng and promptly lost, so registered for a $10 6max mtt which started in 10 mins. I went back to the HU SNG lobby and for a reason that i don't know looked who was waiting in the $100 non turbo games. I Sharkscoped the guy there - his stats were -30% ROI and down 5k over 80 games. I had a $100 token from last weeks sunday tournament...so thought sod it. After 22 mins, 118 hands (only 5 of which got to showdown) I had him down to 3.5k:500, he made it 125 from button, i shipped with 66 and he snapped with K10...the 6 on the turn left him dead and i shouted good things at Poppy (my dog), much to her shock/horror.

I have played 14 sngs today winning 9 and netting $260 profit + raking $30 or so. Lost $20 on MTTs (JJ vs 88 aipf :( )

Tomorrow am doing group presentation stuff on the banking sector (yawn) then will prob play the partypoker freeroll...maybe at J10's house, maybe here. Got a super busy week, will play the odd game here and there but need to finish of MSc/PhD stuff as well as draft some essay plans for stuff due in in a couple of weeks, so meh.

Pescado as i am didnt win at some random 4k comp last night, standard coming in as 3rd on FT loosing with AKspades to 107 All in pre, he pushed on my BB, bad play by him but i cant complain, just shsame, then with 30k i push with 88 UTG and utgplus 1 CALLS with 66, fucking horrible 6 on flop and bye bye StigOwe..sooo annoying he was uber tight too, and given that it was an awful call, i push UTG he has 4 ppl behind him and he only had 66 oh well ran so bad there and got something like 300 bux, not great am dissapinted, will have my revenge though, at school now.

Going home at 2.30 sleeping for 2 hours then gym and after tyhat dinner with a girl friend and home and probs play a comp again and some HU, and adam and jeal u gonna have to wait til March 1st, they LOLLED me and wont let me send again this month, didnt even know i had sent dinero this month, oh well run like shit per ususal hehe,,,naaa been running better, take care ppl! x x x x x

Figured i'd update with recent poker events.

UEA donkament on friday got 30 runners, again I run like tanni gray. Couldnt win a flip or a 70:30 to save my life. Meh, wwjd. (lol?) Played the 10-10 game and won £40, 4 buyins is always good. Played an interesting hand actually...
4 handed nlh. Am on the bb. to my left is a spewy lag who randomly bluffs, button is a decent thinking player and sb is tight weak. utg limps, thinking button makes it 3x. He knows utg has limped his usual pf raise is 3-4x anyway, so this was a little odd. sb calls, i have AJ and call, utg folds (lol). Board comes A 9 4 rainbow, sb checks. I donk out 70% of pot which is now 17bbs. button flats and sb folds. Turn is a 10, not a great card tbh as various 2-pairs get there, but meh. I check, and he bets 22bbs into 24. I don't really want to raise as I know he's capable of floating the flop and folding here, and think flatting to see what he does on the river is best. I flat, pot now ~60bbs. River is a Q. I check, and he quickly bets 56x. Now he knows I'm quite willing to call down lightish, but this is a biiig bet for a hand trying to extract value. I can rule out AK i thiiink as he raises more pre / prob raises the flop. This goes for big pairs too. So his range is kinda limited to 44 99 A10, sometimes AQ although again i think this opponent raises flop. 44 99 A10 probably dont bet that much either as he knows my range here is pretty wide, hence his hand looks much more like a bluff. I also don't think he's quite good enough to know this and overbet with nut hands thinking I can figure his line to be a bluff too. So after talking out loud for a fair while I call, and he mucks saying he should stop floating. Lol.

So after this I was really up for NPC and the .50 1 game, as was making all the right decisions. Sat with 50. Stack is ~40, JB raises to 3, turk calls and i call behind with position and Jd 10d. Blinds call too, pot ~15 and i have ~35 behind. Board comes 8d 7c 3d. So gutty, fdraw and 2 possible overs. blinds check, jb leads for 7, turk flats. Turks range is 23+ here lol, and jb can have two paint cards through to AA here, so is definately a good spot to ship, so i ship 35 into ~30. jb snaps and turk folds, jb has QQ and i brick out.
Reload for 50 and instantly get a semi-cooler. jb raises the c/o to 3.50, turk calls on button. I should probably make it 12 here with AK but decide to get tricky and flat hoping turk will stack off. pot is 10ish. Board comes K J 5 rainbow, i check, jb bets 7, turk folds. This is an interesting spot as jb loves to bet hard with annny pair including 88 etc here against me oop, and will also fire 3 barrells. I flat. Turn is a Q, not exactly a great card. I check call 16 given his range, leaving 25 or so behind to check call most rivers. Maybe i should ship here as he probabyl calls with J10 Q10 AJ AQ 1010 etc though. River is a brick, i check and he checks behind with JJ. Hero read me for a gutshot it seems ;) we'll lose the minimum lol.
Get the 25 up to 90 by shipping with top pair and someone missing their straight draw ( J 4 5 board, they had 23o!) then bluff catching against a guy who loves to draw...cheers for the extra £15.
Joe and Jeal walk over, and I look down at 8s 10s in late posish. Chris limps in ep, and dannii makes it 3.50. Her range is AQ+ here, and only has 12 behind. However, i know the blinds are calling / cb is deffo calling and has me covered, so dont mind a call. low and behold, both blinds call and so does chris. pot is 16. the blinds both check DARK, as does chris. dannii then ships 12 all in blind, am im first to act. We'll take a shitload of equity for free, tyvm.
Board comes 7c Jh 9c...i appear to have the current nuts. I think like i have a draw and smooth the 12. The blinds fold, then chris makes it 30 more. He always has J10 / 79 and maybe a hand like QJcc here, so i ship for 40 on top, and he calls with J9. Dannii is already drawing dead, so me and chris run it once for the 210ish pot. Hello Jc river, goodbye big pot. Standard.

This sends me to the rail and thus onto HU online where i got slaughtered. Joe was railing me, I think he wants to learn a bit more hu, it would help the endgame in sngs obv. I made a semi-hero call with 64 on a K 9 2 4 two hearts board when i was pretty sure he had a draw (he check called then shipped the turn, indicative) and he had 102hh for a pair and draw. I was only a 70% fav, and again fail to hold. Then played a sick pot with Q10dd where we got in 15% of stacks on the flop Q 8 2 one diamond flop, then the rest on the Jd turn. I checked the turn -pot 400 ish- and he bet 400, i shipped for 1.1k saying to joe he'll call with any Q here and he snaps with Q7 no diamond. Hello 7s on the river for him to scoop. Then had standard AQ vs kk aipf with 10bbs (couldnt suck out). Then 1010 vs A7 which i lose. Then AQ vs AA on a Q high flop in a sng when i was admittedly a bit tilted. Then dropped 10 on cash before Joe (hero) noticed my suboptimal play, and we stopped -$80. Variance I know, but sick nonetheless as in the poker soc email i said how much will i win/lose friday night - monday morning online, lol.

Saturday didnt play, did MSc application stuff, wathed ipswich on the tv (great performance, sick 3rd goal) and then headed to gfs for wine + films. Watched a beautiful mind, john nash ftw. She met my parents late last week too, went really well so at least im running good there!

Me and J10 (luke) did mandarin stuff on sunday daytime, with a view of eating dinner then playing the partypoker student freeroll together / i'd grind HU. Went out of the freeroll super early bluffing, so got on the grind. Won 7/9hu, but played some tournaments + rake to only be up $10. Then started to go deep in the 11pm midnight oil (midnight EU time, 266 runners, $20 buyin) on ongame, has 900 added in tournament tickets so is good val. 1500 at 12 min levels + standard is pretty bad, you can easily locate players to avoid.
Ended up 4th for ~$350 + a $100 tournament ticket. Played pretty well tbh, will list some key hands:

1) Haven't played a hand the whole tournament and get dealt KK on button. utg limps, late position limps (he's pretty laggy but not picking his opponents too well from what ive seen). I make it 155, blinds fold and they both call. Board come Q 7 3 two spades. Checked to me, i think and bet 310 into 500. Utg flats, bb takes a small amount of time and ships. Hello semi bluff squeeze imo given the player type, utg was loose passive and has AQ best here i think so its an easy call. utg folds and lag has Q8clubs. He doesnt hit his 5 outs and am up o 3.6k

2) 25-50, 3.5k stack. Raise to 150 utg+1 with KJo. I know this is an obvious fold, but my image was super rocky and the play at my table was so bad i thought it could be +EV to play a few more pots, even if oop. c/o and button call, blinds fold. Board comes K 8 7 two clubs. This is an interesting spot..was listening to joe seebok/gav smith/court harrington on prr the other day where joe had KQ in a similarish spot, so decided to play it like court suggested instead of stacking off like Joe did when the guy had flatted with AK. So i checked, and they both checked behind. C/o was a pretty active player ftr. Turn comes a brick, and i lead for 295 into 500. c/o makes it 750 to go with 1.1.k behind, button folds. I speak to jon who's playing with me alongside j10, and reason behind shipping here. Am pretty sure he's bluffing most of the time, or semi bluffing with random 7/8/draw hands. If he has 22 gl to him, but you cant worry about it! So i ship, and he tanks (we know at this point he's folding :) )..so 750 extra chips my way thanks to checking the flop.

3) Moved table directly after, a guy 3 to my left is the definition of dead money. No idea of position, limping atc, randomly betting, terrible. I have a tad over 5k. Blinds 25 50, i raise lp with him in the sb with As 4c. He calls, as does another. Pot 500. Board comes K 7 4 all spades. He leads for 200. His range is basically a bare 4/ flushdraw + here, so i flat. Pot 900. Turn is the 2d, and he bets 500. I dont want to raise as he can have atc here and dont want to fold hands i beat, plus pot control etc, so flat. River is the 10h and he bets 900. If i call I've lost a fair chunk of my stack with a pair of fours, but he was so random that i think its a call itlr getting a big price. I call, he had 8c 2s for a 2 high flush draw that ran into a pair..gg mate lol.

Every hand after that was standard, putting me on 12k or so. I think all were without showdown actually, or at least I was never calling thinking I could be behind.

This is where I started to run standard Adam. With blinds at 300-600 people would ship for 3k in lp, i'd call with AJ in the bb and their KQ would hit. Or, they'd ship for 2.2k and i'd be forced to call with KQ...and their A7 would hold. I kept grinding back to 10k w/o showdown, then got past the bubble (40). Payoffs between 40-20 are the same (breakeven) and before you know it we're down to 23. I now have 11k at 500-1k. One ok player at my table keeps raising just over min to take down blinds, understandable. He does it to my BB, amking it 2.4k with 16k behind. I ship for about 9k more cos of my bb being in, giving him about 1.3:1 to call. He thinks then calls with AQ. A slight hiccup since I have 82 offsuit. So am 67:33 dog, destined to lose given how I had been running the whole tournament. Board 552..me and jon start shouting...A on turn, i shout FUCK OFFFFFFF, prolly waking up J10s house, sorry. 20:1 shot 2-ball rolls off on the rivvvv, me and jon celebrate by more shouting. Good times.

Two hands later i make it 2.5k with A6spades in lp. big stacked BB calls. Flop Q J 9 one spade, which i think is basically his range in this spot and im geting checkraised a ton here, so when he checks i check behind. Turn is another Q, but the Qs giving me a nut draw, and he checks again. I bet 3k thinking im now taking it down, and he oddly flats. River is a beautiful 8s, so now his bare-10's all get there. But he checks again. Pot is 10k, i have a tad over 15k behind. I say to john that he must be check calling with a hand like pocket 7's here as i think a 10 leads/ a Q raises the turn...weird. So instead of betting 7-8k i bet 5.6k...he tanks and calls with 77! ship it perfect bet size!

Down to 14 handed and im on 30k at 1k-2k, about 2-3rd in chips. I get onto the final table with 60k without showdown. We'll exploit the bubble for fun, i think Owe will agree i played the FT bubble reaaaaaally well. K4s utg raising, the lot.

Then a sick hand happens. Blinds on FT are 2k 4k, 10 handed. But $100 tournament entry added prizes only start at 9th, and the people with 12k are just folidng out to these cos 10th pays 60...9th the equiv of 190! Given this, the hijack raises to 8k and the really loose-passive c/o flats. Im on the button with 99. I love/hate this spot, as raising the 22k and taking it down puts me on 85k and a decent CL. Hijack has 40k total, so if he reships i have to call getting 4:1. I eventually make it 23k and he does indeed ship, and thus i call leaving myself 16k. He has KK and of course holds, and i am pretty hacked off. I say to jon we're folding to 9th, then get 1010 utg and ship our 16k in. Really tight mp player reships for 35k, then the short small blind who has me just covered so would get 9th if we both go out calls ffs! The tight mp player has 55, shocked the crap out of me, and the other player has AK. the board comes 10 high and me and john wake up the house again, lol. Back up to 45k. Lose KQ vs AJ for 30k standard pot when i was in the bb, keeping in the guy who eventually won it. Get down to 5 handed and am on 60k w/o showdown, then knock out the 10k shortstack when his Qd10d doesn't improve against my AA..even though he flops a flushdraw nd turns a gutshot, will i ever not get a sick sweat ffs?!
On 80k, the sb makes up and i check QJo in the bb. Flop J 7 3 two clubs, he bets 8k and i flat. (We had one hand like this previously where he bet the turn too and i folded.) Turn is the 8c, and he bets 16k. Again, its an easy card to bluff at, and I call - Owe agrees. River is a brick and he now bets 24k. If i call i have 20k left. Again, based on history its a call, and he has 78 for a turned 5-outer. Standard I guess, I dont think many people play it much different, just a shame to get in-a-way coolered when 4 handed. Then shipped K7d on the button for 17k a hand later, bb is committed with Q8 and it runs K Q 3 Q x, see you later. If the HU pot goes differenly I should really come 2nd/win, so was a 300-700$ turn card, but there you go.

Also found some random RB in the cashier window thingy, so roll now on $930 + $100 ticket.

It's about 3 weeks since I started to look at concentrating on steady BR growth, and concentrating on my stronger rooms (those full of donks obv.)

After playing around on some sites I found of the major sites for micro stakes the weakest competition is on PKR and Party Poker..

Party is constant to begin with, as I didnt actually start it till about 10 days ago, total gain across 2 is $42.33

Which whilst not huge is not bad for the stakes and frequency I have been playing.. It is definately performing better than my savings account.. :D LOL

Yo, just got back from Casino, was a cool night, but still a bit disspaointing, was counting on taking it down after a great start and some sick reads and great plays! :)

Ran really good, and hit som monster and value betted their fishy bums off,

Hand number one was 1010 raise 3 callers K93 i bet some dude reraise, i re raise again and he mucks A9(loose fish) i show tens and goes well i dotn want to flip LOL?
next han after that i flop a set with 1010 on 1073 i bet out, 2 callers, turn comes Q i bet like halfpot one caller and river i bet 90'% of his stack and he flats, thought about it afterwards he was comitted and lost out on a bounty there, bit dumb of me....

repopped some young gun 3 times with air on low flops, he seemed really aggresive and best way to fight fire is with lava.. 4th pot vs him (he got up to 21k reeeeal fast) ive got 14k he has 21k...i raise he calls, i hold AQ clubs....flop Q44 i check he bets ofc, i make ita like 2.5k more and he makes it min more again... not sure if i did the right play here for making him bluff another barrel on turn since there is only one scare card really and thats K but i reshipped and he instamucked...

sb raises on my BB had a fairly gd read on the dude, kinda bad imo, i call with A2hearts...flop KJ2 he grabs for chips then changes his mind and checks, i bet and he thinks thinks and calls....he llooked soooo nervous so i was like wtf!?!?! turn come 7 and he checks and i check behind,,,,river comes 6 and there was clubdraw too, he now bets out about 70% pot and looks like he is about to die of nervousity lol... i spk to him abit and ask him if he is nervous and he just felt sooo weak,,,and i decided to call and he is real embarrased and says u win, and i say show me and he shows A9... pretty happy witht that one now chipleader again with 15 left...

Pick up QQ and raise get reraised from shortstack he has QQ which was suuuuuch a bad beat really, splitpot but still.... 2 ppl go out pretty standard....
i then made a bad play from button with Ak spades, open shoved and BB which was loose aggresive shows A and im like wtf limp or and minraise and he is all in, really dissapointed there, just didnt wanna get flatcalled and see like 549flopp and feel like a mong with half my stack in...

then had to fold 99 with 55k vs raise of 12k then all in of 35k and 3 ppl behind me....great fold Owe NOOOOOOOOOOOT, guy behind me goes all in original raiser gd spanish champ dude folds and all in dude has 77 other guy shows AK hearts...and he wa sbehind me, flop brings K910 turn comes 10 river Q ffs...wud have had 50% of chips on FT then i think, then another shortstack of 19k moves in on my BB from button with A7 i called ith KQ hearts, flopp comes 759 2 hearts...turn blank river blank.....sick hand after, 1010 vs AJ vs QQ and QQ scoops it all, even thou my A9 wud have taken all if i wud have been a donk hehe :)

basically i get it in with AJ when senor spanish champ raises and i ship all in he was def comitted and called with A8

Was running pretty ok, well running bad but somehow managed to win some moneys, was up like 200, but not down like 300 played a fish omaha HU 100 sng, he didnt know the rules, and another reason for me not liking this game, well atleast not in sng, is that they can get lucky so much more of the time, i flopped set with redraw open end str8 draw he calls with top pair on flop get redraw to flush on turn, i have same draw but J high, he obv ships with top pair and fl draw hits no probs... then played some cash, called a reraise in pos vs laggy player, i held AK flop K24 he fires i flat, turn he bets halfpot it came 7 i reraised him all in, and he obv snap calls with AA no help. then about 5 min later on another cash table i get dealt KK and some donk raises to 7 times bb, i smoothcall, and another dude ships all in, he calls and so does I, cards tunrns over, and they hold AJ and AJsuited when there is 2 cards that are very bad for me, remember that that is all they need flop brings A22 turn 7 and river BLANK,,,, YES GG so in about 10 min i lost 350 $ and im now down 300 yay!

will try again later, goin to cinema now and for sum food!

Yes!!! up just over 400 dollars today, didnt really stick to my 50 plan obv, played few 100 non turbo heads up vs some great value and from good play wont 3 out 4 of them.

Pretty standard day, not really any major suck outs and not too many harsh beats was 2 thou where flop came in limped pot 3 left in 5 max sng, 974 2 spades, i have 95 of spades and open ship, he goes in tank and calls with 85!!!! of course he has plenty of outs 3 of them and hits it str8 away for gutshot,,,,,,then another hu in 5 max where i got it in 3 times, with best hand finally lost with QQ to A6 even stacked...harsh...

still very pleased!!

satuday going casino here i madrid, 50+20+5 freezeout with 20euro bounty, shud be great value since all spaniards wiill only think of the bountys hehe :) update of that then...

Today is gonna be the day, i can feel it, gonna grind loads up to sunday, so hoping my luck will turn, will also play basically all tourneys with value, last time i played a comp online i won (lol at me now wanna play since) Oh and might head to casino one of these days if they have agd tourney :)

Was gonna head to Cadiz this weekend for this thing called CARNIVAL, which is supposed to be awesome, however, all the ppl i know here are broke and super tight people, not even broke just very careful with money, they have no problem spending 40 euros on buying drinks in a bar, but paying 12 euros to get into awesome nightclubs with 2 drinks YEAH thats expensive, imo they are just retarded with bad math skillz! My ideology, buy liter of vodka for 4 euros, get smashed, pay 12 euros and get 2 drinks and get in, thats 16 euros plus 5 euro for taxi home cause ur too drunk to walk, then OWN the souls of the ppl in club :) then u save urself 19 euros and have an awesome night hehe.

Had a pretty rotten day yesterday, had KK 2nd hand in HU sng vs AA obv it goes in, next game lost QQ to KK, then played 3 5max sngs came second in two, one of them was soooo harsh he minraised i got him covered just, flop K42 ivve got K4 he instashovs sick overbet, i call obv he has Qj and comes 9 then 10, ADAM FML not urs :) sent Jeal some HH over msn yesterday and the ones i sent were all soooo sick beats and it was 18 of them and thats not even all cause half of the time i cant even be bothered to get them up cause im throwing up of sickness! counted that last too days ive lost about 1500$ ATLEAST in pots and games i should have won, oh and im down 450 since only so pretty proud of myself :)

Been talking to some other grinders on ongame and they are all having sick downswings, one of them have now changed, and he is prob the best 100, and 200 husng grinder on ongame (resultwize)

Oh and an interesting fact i noticed is that the players that run the best on the site, have been checking their results and stats etc and them as ME have all lost most money to the biggest fish on site, all ppl ive lost most money too is SUPERFISH, we are talking ppl wiv -15% ROI and like doesnt have a clue how to play, was discussing this with a dude, he doesnt think there is a chance that internet poker is fixed in any way, i kinda agree, with the arguement that what would a site gain from rigging, hmmm WELL, if they let these fish win by some "rushes" then they will stay around rake more, money goes around and money stays....

donno what i believe about internetpoker being rigged or not, but more and more superuser accounts and scandals are appearing so hmmm.... anyways gonna grind now for a few hours

$20 freeze 5kgtd 340 runners - 1.9k for 1st, i come 23rd for $55 after AQ < AJ, JJ < 910, 99 runs into AA. Won KK vs QJ though, so thats a consolation. Went KQ vs 1010, door card K, 3rd flop card 10...ggl. Should have come at least in top 20 for 80, alas nowt you can do but keep getting it in good. Had to fold QQ with 30 left when i raised pre, got a called from the bb, board came 568, he bet, i raised, he called (got half my 22k stack in now) and turn came a 7...he open shipped, i had to muck, and he showed 910 like a true hero. lol.

$20 midnight oil 2kgtd - 1k ish for 1st, 220 runners. Came 55thish. Am super dry, some guy calls my bet of 2k on the turn leaving me with 1k behind with one over and a gutshot, and of course hits. GG. Mine and owes convo on msn (he was railing) = wtf. Have raised 3x pre and he' called oop with K8o. I had 99 ftr.

6 sngs. 1 HU sng, won. 5 5 handed sngs, didnt cash in any. 5 outered, lost 3 flips, then got it in AQ vs KK 3 handed with 10bb stacks. fml.

+10 on cash i think, lol.

On the upside, life is good. Taught my gf and her friends how to play Poker on Sunday with Wakes, was the most fun 5 handed poker ive had in a fair old while. She cleared up obviously, 85o > 99, K7cc > AA...both times vs me! Sick. At least one of us in the relationship runs good...

You can imagine how sick I was to pick up AA (the first time in about a month on all sites!) with just 40 chips... sickening, but it was the first step on the road to the win, so will take that.. :D The 4-4 was a bit of a poor move tbh. and I would like to say i soul read the 3-3, but actually I was just basically trying to steam roller the table, to get a concerning table image for a bit; and figure that with 4-4 with the inherent benfits of making some early power steals, and with the fact that I am only continuing to stay in if I hit a set, I also have in the back of mind, I am actually only likely to draw profit with the steal..

PKR is deathly slow, and no multi-tabling, but.. plenty of fish out there. I would never use as main site, but it is good for a change.. Party is also good, and works with PokerOffice etc. which is another downside of PKR, but am not a huge fan of the Party lobby software, it is not allways very clear on payouts, and rake etc.. But the in game is fairly good, quite quick. .Turbo SNGs are quite nice on there..
